Mile #3: Relationships
Relationships were important to Jesus. God has put many important relationships in our lives, too.
Family Activity: Proverbs 17:17 says, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for times of trouble.” God has given you friends and family members who love and encourage you. At lunchtime, list as many of your friends and family members as you can on a napkin or a paper plate. Then share what you like about each person. Circle one person that is really special to you. How can you show that people that they are important to you today?
Share: Post a picture of a friend or family member you are thankful for and what you love about them. Use the hashtag #sevenmilemiracle and tag @elevationeKidz.
Mile #2: Salvation
Jesus offers salvation to everyone who chooses to follow Him. Then, He calls us to put our faith to work!
Family Activity: Philippians 2:12 says to “continue to work out your salvation.” Your faith gets stronger when you work it out, just like your muscles! Write your own fitness challenge for the day and work out for a few minutes as a family. After the workout, ask:
- How did you do?
- Was the workout hard or easy?
- What is one way you can work out your faith?
Share: Post a picture or a video of your workout and what you learned about exercising your faith. Use the hashtag #sevenmilemiracle and tag @elevationeKidz.
Mile #1: Forgiveness
On the cross, Jesus spoke words of forgiveness. You can speak words of forgiveness, too.
Family Activity: Proverbs 16:24 says, “Kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.” During breakfast, read this Proverbs together at the table and enjoy something sweet to eat. Use the following questions for discussion:
- How does it taste?
- How do sweet things make you feel?
- What are some sweet words you can speak when people hurt your feelings?
Share: Post a picture of your sweet breakfast and what you learned about forgiveness. Use the hashtag #sevenmilemiracle and tag @elevationeKidz.
Introductory Week: Reverse The Search
After His resurrection, Jesus walked with two of his disciples for seven miles and they didn’t recognize Him! Sometimes we don’t notice Jesus working in our lives, either.
Family Activity: With your family take a seven-minute walk or bike ride around the neighborhood. What are some of the wonderful things in your life you might not notice every day? What keeps you from noticing those things? Take some time to share out loud what you are thankful for.
Share: Post a picture of something pretty or unusual you saw on your walk or bike ride. Use the hashtag #sevenmilemiracle and tag @elevationeKidz.
