Series Memory Verse: Here is what love is. It is not that we loved God. It is that he loved us and sent his Son to give his life to pay for our sins. I John 4:10 (NIRV)
Main Point: reACT: responding to the gifts we’ve been given.
Focus: The Gift of Jesus
Bible Story: The Birth of Jesus, Luke 2:1-20

In the second week of our Finders: Golden Christmas series, we looked at the greatest gift of all, Jesus! We read from Luke about Jesus’ birth and learned how much of a surprise his coming was. Though the Israelites were expecting him, they were expecting a king or a warrior leader, not a humble baby. But just like Christmas gifts, the best gifts are the biggest surprises, and Jesus was both the greatest surprise and gift ever!

It’s important to react to the gifts we receive the right way, and it’s no different with the gift of Jesus. One way we react to Jesus is to worship him. The best way we can react to Jesus is by giving our lives to him. We gave kids the opportunity to ask questions about salvation and to trust Jesus as their Savior. One of the resources we have available is the Faith Starter Kit. We gave these to families of kids who were interested in salvation but not quite ready to take that step of faith. You can read more about the resource here and they’re available at all our Elevation locations.

Make sure to come back to Elevation for Christmas Eve! You can find locations and times here.

Main Point: reACT: responding to the gifts we’ve been given.
Focus: The Gift of Family
Bible Story: Zechariah, Elizabeth, Mary, and Joseph, Luke 1:11-66

In this Christmas season, we’re taking a short hiatus from The Finders’ storyline and watching some of their favorite Christmas specials and learning how we are to react to the gifts God gives us. This week we watched the story of Mary and Elizabeth and looked at the gift of family.

When we reACT, we need to Appreciate the gift, Choose what to do, and Take the next step.

The holidays are often an opportunity to spend extra time with family. Sometimes that can lead to stress or tension but this is a good reminder to make sure we reACT appropriately. Family is a tremendous blessing and we need to keep that in mind this time of year. We can choose a lot of different things to do for our family – spending time with them, expressing your appreciation to them, or even doing something for them. And then the final step is to go ahead and do what you’ve decided.

Talk with your family about different family members, what you appreciate about them, and brainstorm ways to thank them. Then make sure each of you takes the next step and follows through with your idea.

At Christmas, we give each other gifts to celebrate the gift God gave us – Jesus. When you get a gift for Christmas or even your birthday, you don’t put it back in the box and forget about it – you use it! During The Finders: Golden Christmas, we’re going to learn how we can use the gifts God has given us and reACT: APPRECIATE the gift, CHOOSE what to do next, and TAKE the next step.

Doing what the Bible says is one way we reACT to God loving us and sending us the gift of Jesus. We can do that by reading the Bible and learning what it says. Download the memory verse backgrounds for your phone or computer and join us in helping your child remember why God gave us Jesus from 1 John 4:10.
