Motion :: Week of July 29

Uniqueness: Discovering who God made you to be so you can make a difference.
Series Memory Verse: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
Main Point: God made you to do good.
Bible Story: The Good Samaritan | Luke 10;25-37

Every person on earth is unique. We have distinct DNA, personalities, experiences, and relationships that make us different from each other. This makes us uniquely wired and wonderfully made. Because we are uniquely made in God’s image, it’s important for kids to discover more about what that means for them — how they can use their unique traits, gifts, and talents to serve and bring glory to God.

In 1 Corinthians 12 we learn more about the gifts of the Spirit. We each have role to play in this world. God gives each one of us a unique gift through the Holy Spirit to help make a difference in the lives of the people around us.

God made you to do good. God doesn’t give us these special gifts just for us. God has uniquely gifted us to help Him do good in the world so we can help Him change the world and tell others about Him.

In Acts 16:11-15 we meet a woman named Lydia. Paul and Silas were traveling around and telling people about Jesus. In the city of Philippi, they headed down to the city riverbank where they thought they’d find people worshipping God. While they were there they met Lydia, a wealthy business owner. Lydia used her gift of hospitality to make Paul and Silas feel welcomed. She used her gifts to help others feel loved.

Bible Story: Philip and the Ethiopian Official | Acts 8:26-40

Every person on earth is unique. We have distinct DNA, personalities, experiences, and relationships that make us different from each other. This makes us uniquely wired and wonderfully made. Because we are uniquely made in God’s image, it’s important for kids to discover more about what that means for them — how they can use their unique traits, gifts, and talents to serve and bring glory to God.

In Acts 8:26-40; we learn more about an encounter between Philip and an official from Ethiopia. As the Ethiopian searched God’s word and had questions about faith, Philip pointed him in the right direction, and showed him that Jesus was the answer to those prophesies from long ago.

God made you to follow Jesus. God wants to have a relationship with us and made a way for that to happen through Jesus. No matter who they are or what they’ve done, God made kids to have a relationship with Him when they believe in Jesus.

The Bring It! Challenge
We want kids to Bring It! to church. The Bring It! Challenge encourages Motion kids to bring themselves, their Bible, and scripture they’ve learned to Motion. Not only can kids be rewarded for bringing it, but the Bring It! Challenge is a fun way to grow and learn more about God and how He wants us to live.

During Gadgets and Gizmos, kids can earn fun prizes each week. Kids have to do all three of the following to earn  a prize:

  • FINDING Ephesians 2:10 in their Bible.
  • RECITING Ephesians 2:10 from memory.
  • SAYING the series virtue, UNIQUENESS, from memory. (UNIQUENESS: Discovering who God made you to be so you can make a difference.)

Motion: Week of July 8

Uniqueness: Discovering who God made you to be so you can make a difference.
Series Memory Verse: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
Main Point: God made you for an adventure.
Bible Story: Abraham | Genesis 12:1-9

Every person on earth is unique. We have distinct DNA, personalities, experiences, and relationships that make us different from each other. This makes us uniquely wired and wonderfully made. Because we are uniquely made in God’s image, it’s important for kids to discover more about what that means for them — how they can use their unique traits, gifts, and talents to serve and bring glory to God.

In Genesis 12, we find a man named Abram, who eventually we come to know as Abraham, the father of God’s people. But long before that, God called Abraham to go on a journey with many unknowns because of a really BIG promise. Abraham was willing to follow God and go wherever He led. In the end, God made good on each of the promises He made to Abraham.

God made you for an adventure. God may not call us on a journey to another country, but at some point, God will call us to do something out of our comfort zone. God made kids unique for whatever adventure comes their way and we want them to learn to trust that God will keep His promises to us, and that no matter what happens.

Bible Story: David and Saul’s Armor | 1 Samuel 17

Every person on earth is unique. We have distinct DNA, personalities, experiences, and relationships that make us different from each other. This makes us uniquely wired and wonderfully made. Because we are uniquely made in God’s image, it’s important for kids to discover more about what that means for them — how they can use their unique traits, gifts, and talents to serve and bring glory to God.

We kick off the month in 1 Samuel 17 and rediscover the familiar story of David and Goliath. David was the newly anointed king of Israel. He saw that Goliath was bullying God’s people, and he knew that God would help him defeat the giant. Instead of wearing the typical armor, he decided to use what God gave him through his experience as a shepherd. With a rock and a sling, he knocked Goliath to the ground and defeated the Philistines.

God made you to be you. God uniquely made each and every one of us. On top of that, God’s given us unique experiences that we can use to help others. Our unique story can impact the world for God!
