Quest :: Week of April 22

Monthly Focus: Who is the best? (Jesus is the best!)
Bible Story: Peter the Rock | Matthew 16:17-18
Main Point: Jesus made the church to do great things.
Memory Verse: “Let us love one another, for love comes from God.” 1 John 4:7a (NIV)

J-E-S-U-S! We love Jesus. He’s the best!” Jesus is the BEST. He is. Thousands of years ago, Jesus died for each and every one of us. That means He died for you, too. He came back just like He said He would, AND He wants to be your friend forever. That’s what we’re celebrating this month.

In this week’s lesson, Jesus tells Peter He will use him to build the Church and it will do great thing!

Jesus chose Peter to start the Church, and He wants the Church to work together to do great things! When the Church works together, we can help everyone know the Jesus is the best!

eKidz At Home Activities

Family activities to review the lesson lesson with your child this week:

  • At BathTime use some blocks to build a high tower. Each time a block is laid say, “Jesus is the best!”
  • At PlayTime use paper doll chains to show how when one person tells another person Jesus is the best, it builds the church!
  • During DriveTime tell your child to count the people seen using this rhyme: One, two, God loves you! It’s is a fun way to remember that God loves the world.

April Memory Verse

This month our Bible verse says God loves us so much that He gave His only Son to save us! Jesus is the very best!

Children can recite the verse every week in April to earn a special memory verse card. When your child receives a memory verse card celebrate with them on learning their verse and put the card on their Quest poster.

that he gave (place hands together and extend forward)
his only Son.” (hold arms like rocking a baby)

Bible Story: Jesus Died and Lives Again | Matthew 26:20-30, 27:45-50, 28:1-7
Main Point: God sent Jesus to be my friend forever.

In this week’s lesson, Jesus dies on a cross and is buried in a tomb. Three days later He comes back just like He promised!

We have so much to celebrate on Easter! Jesus is the best, and God sent Jesus to be the best friend we could ever have! Not only is Jesus the best friend we could ever have, He wants to be our friend forever! Jesus is the best!

Family activities to review the lesson lesson with your child this week:

  • At BathTime cut a heart shape out of a pink kitchen sponge and add it to the water. Tell your child that a heart reminds us of God’s great love for us.
  • At PlayTime gather some stuffed animals for a pretend meal. Talk about Jesus having a special meal with His friends before He went away.

Main Point: We can tell others about Jesus.

In this Good Friday lesson we learned that because we make wrong choices, Jesus gave up His life so we could be forgiven by God. Along with a group of friends from Owlegories*, we learned about how we can me more like Jesus from the lamb we met in the toy store.

Jesus is the perfect Lamb of God! We can be more like the Lamb as we try every day to be more like Jesus.

A family activity to review the lesson lesson with your child this week:

  • Dinner Time Discussion: God can do great things through us when we learn and live out what the Bible says. We learned Jesus is the Lamb of God, and we should always try to love others like He does. Talk about some ways your family can be more like Jesus this week.

In this week’s lesson, people praise Jesus by spreading coats and palm branches on the road as He enters Jerusalem.

People welcomed and praised Jesus as He came to Jerusalem. Jesus might not be riding a donkey into our city, but we have lots of reasons to celebrate and praise Him, too! He takes care of us and He loves us so much. There are so many ways we can praise Jesus! Jesus deserves our praise because He loves us so much and He gives us what we need. Jesus is the best!

Jesus served others by washing feet. We don’t have to wash people’s feet, but we can serve others like Jesus did, too. I’m so thankful Jesus showed us how to serve! Jesus is the best!

  • At BathTime let you child wash the feet of a bath toy and talk about how Jesus washed His friends’ feet to show them how much He loved them.
