Quest :: Week of July 23

This month, we will continue with our Power Up theme as we learn how Jesus gives us the power to love others—and not just the ones who are easy to love. No, this kind of power is what helps us love everyone! This powerful kind of love looks a lot like goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

This weekend, we learned that when Jesus is our friend, He gives us the power to be gentle.

Cuddle with your child and pray, “Dear God, thank You for giving us Jesus to be our friend and show us how to love one another. I pray [child’s name] and I will follow Jesus so we can have the power to love the way He loves. In Jesus’ name, amen.

In this week’s Bible story, Peter’s friends showed us what it looks like to be faithful.

As you drive, ask, “What gives the car power?” Continue asking what gives things power (radio, cell phone, street lights, anything you see along the way). Say, “When Jesus is our friend, He gives us the power to love people the way He loves us.”

This weekend, we learned that every good and perfect gift is from God. And when Jesus is your friend, He gives you the power to show goodness, too!

Grab a bag and go outside. Look for things God has given us. Pinecones, flowers, rocks that sparkle . . . the world is full of gifts from God! When you’re done, sit down and let your child show you his items. Pray together and thank God for His goodness.

Quest :: Week of June 29

Feeling like we can do anything is a pretty great feeling. We have a power source that gives us the power to do everything God wants us to do. His name is Jesus. And, He is AMAZING! Over the next two months, we’re going to power up and learn about the fruit of the Spirit what happens when we are connected to the real power source.

This weekend, we learned about the story Jesus told about a Samaritan man who chose to be kind and help someone who is different than him. Jesus gives us the power to be kind, too!

Cuddle with your child and pray, “Dear God, You are so kind. You are kind to every person, no matter who they are. Thank You for the story of the Good Samaritan. Help us be kind to everyone the way he was kind to the hurt man. In Jesus’ name, amen.

This weekend, we learned about the time Simeon chose to be patient and he finally got to see the promised Savior, Jesus. Jesus gives us the power to be patient, too!

As you drive, look for things that need power. When you see something, say the name of the object and what it needs power to do. Talk about how we need power to have love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness. Jesus gives us the power to do everything!
