  • For each round, choose a kid to pick five cards and put them in a line. (Example: yellow, green, blue, blue, pink)
  • Allow all the kids to study the cards for 20 seconds.
  • Cover the cards with the piece of black paper.
  • Go around the circle starting at the sequence maker’s right, and see if kids can remember the order of the cards.
  • When a kid recalls the cards in the wrong sequence, use the buzzer to signal they are have not remembered correctly, moving on to the next kid in the circle.

ONCE THE WORSHIP EXPERIENCE BEGINS (5:00, 9:30, 11:30)

CONNECT
Connect is a time for kids to connect with their eGroup leader. Participate and have fun with your eGroup. Learn the names of your eGroup kids and try to learn something about each one. Let them learn about you!

SUGGESTED TIME
7-8 MINUTES

SUPPLIES
NONE

SAY: “Welcome to eGroup! My name is _______ and I’m your eGroup leader! As an eGroup we will hang out together during Motion, hear stories from the Bible, talk about what it means to live for Jesus, and play games!

Right now, we’re in a series called Hey Me! We’re learning some important truths we can remember about our God. But before we talk more about what we’ll learn, let’s get to know each other!””

  • Have kids stand in a circle. Have each kid go around the circle and say their name.
  • The goal of this activity is to remember everyones name.
  • Start a rhythm by slapping your legs twice and then clapping twice (slap, slap, clap, clap). Have the kids join in the rhythm with you. Keep the beat slower for younger kids.
  • At the same time you are slapping your legs, say your name twice. When you clap, say another kid’s name twice.
  • This kid will say their name twice while slapping their own legs, then choose another kid’s name to say while they are clapping their hands.
  • Kids should not call the name of someone who has already gone. Continue until everyone has had a chance to say someone’s name.
  • Once everyone has gone, see if you can keep the rhythm going and remember everyone’s names in the same order.
  • CHALLENGE: If someone gets off beat or forgets a name, start over with the first person.

DO, AS TIME ALLOWS: Have kids sit down. Ask a question and have kids share their response.

  • What are some things you are in charge of? doing your homework, chores, etc.
  • Have you ever had a day when you felt everything went really well? What happened?
  • Have you ever had a day when everything seemed to go wrong? What happened?

SAY: “On days when everything seems to go wrong it seems like life is out of control. But the good news is we don’t have to feel overwhelmed when life gets crazy. Today we are going to learn no matter what, I will remember, God is in control.”
