Welcome / Worship Intro

“Hello and welcome to Motion for our blockbuster series, Hollywood Highlight Reel. Before we kick things off with our feature film, I want to welcome a special group of movie-goers I like to call our VIPs. Motion, help me welcome our VIPs!

(initiate applause)

That’s right, you’re a VIP if it’s your first time in eKidz. VIPs, my name is ________ and myself and all the other volunteers in blue shirts are here to make sure you have an awesome experience at the movies. If you have any questions, find us and we’ll be glad to help you out.

Now Motion, it’s time for some pre-show worship. Check out the screen as we get ready to sing!”

Worship Song – I Am Yours

Series Intro

“Motion, thanks for worshipping today! Everybody can have a seat.

(wait for kids to be seated)

Motion, during the screenings of Hollywood Highlight Reel, we’ll be digging through the vault to find some of Hollywood’s most well known characters and we’ll learn how they can be truthful in the things they do or say.

To kick off the day, I’m going to give you a few clues to help you guess what today’s movie is.

This movie takes place on the continent of Africa and one of it’s stars can’t wait to be King of the land. He has to learn lessons from his dad while defending his kingdom from his evil uncle. Anyone want to take a guess what the movie is?

(give kids a few guesses)

Motion, we’re about to see a clip from the movie The Lion King! Please silence your cell phones as we prepare for our feature film!”

Video Outro / Dismissal to eGroups

“Motion, we’re headed for an intermission – a break in the movie’s action. During the intermission you’re going to head back to your eGroups and talk with your leader about why Simba should have been truthful to keep his friend from almost getting hurt.

When I call your eGroup leaders’ name, you can stand up and follow them back to your eGroup.”

(Use the Motion eGroup Leader sheet to call eGroup leaders’ names and dismiss kids.)

I Spy The Lion King Setup

“Welcome back from the intermission, Motion! I hope you all enjoyed the first half of The Lion King! I wanted to play a game that tests how close you were paying attention in the first half of the film in a game titled ‘I Spy The Lion King.’ We’re going to hand whiteboards to each eGroup and I’ll ask you a question about something you saw in the first half of the movie. Then, I’ll give you a few options on the screen and your eGroup must choose the correct answer to earn the points for that round.

Everybody circle around your eGroup leaders and let’s get ready to play!”

(pass out whiteboards and markers)

VIP Welcome

“Great job during the game, Motion! Let’s clear our theater of game materials and we’ve got one more thing to do before we jump back into The Lion King.

(remove game supplies from the groups)

I want to tell VIPs about the lanyards you’re wearing around your neck. Check out the screen.

This is a VIP lanyard.

[VIP Slide – Lanyard]

When you leave Motion, you need to take that lanyard to the Welcome Area.

Once you get to the Welcome Area, show them your lanyard and they will give you a gift!

Let’s review.

Bring It! Challenge Setup

“Motion, before we dive back into The Lion King, we’ve got something special for you. Your eGroup leader wants to tell you about our awesome Bring It! Challenge during Hollywood Highlight Reel 3 and the cool prize you can earn for saying your memory verse. Circle around your eGroup leaders now.

(give eGroup leaders time to talk about the Bring It Challenge)

Since you can’t watch a great movie from the vault without having some delicious snacks, you’re going to get the best movie snack ever: popcorn!

As we get the popcorn to you, we’ll also have an extra snack for kids who have brought their Bibles. I’ll call a grade level out and if you brought your Bible, you can grab an extra movie snack out of the concession bin. Just make sure you take your Bible with you so we can see it before you get your candy.”

(during this time kids should receive their popcorn and kids with Bibles should also receive a piece of candy out of the concession bin)

Dismissal Activity Setup

“Before your parents come in, I wanted to play one more game today.

During Hollywood Highlight Reel 3, we’ll be watching some of the best animated films in history. While some of you are really good at remembering what you’ve seen in movies, I wonder if you can remember the things you’ve heard! That’s what we’ll be testing in our final game: your ability to hear a line from an animated movie and to guess which movie it came from. The whole room will be playing together and I’ll read the quote on the screen and then I’ll go through the possible answers. After I read an answer that you think is correct, I want you to scream loudly and let me know your choice. Then, I’ll reveal the answer and we can find out who was right. Let’s get ready to play!”
