“Now Motion, this week is a very important week because it’s the kickoff of a HUGE event called Love Week! Love Week is when people all throughout our city come together to help people all around us. During Love Week, you and your family will have hundreds of opportunities to make the lives of people around you better. But what does it look like to invite your family to Love Week? Check this out!
Play the Love Week Emoji Video
Man, that was so cool! We should be brave and confident when asking our family if they want to participate in Love Week with us, because we know that helping others is what God has called us to do!
When you and your family go to your first Love Week event, you’ll receive a t-shirt that looks like this:
(show the Love Week t-Shirt graphic)
At every Love Week event you attend, someone at the event will sign the back of your shirt on this fun looking bingo board! The more signatures you receive on the back of your shirt, the better prize you’ll earn when Love Week is over. Make sure you bring back your Love Week shirt NEXT WEEK so you can earn a cool prize for all of your hard work throughout Love Week! Right now, we’re going to take a look at the three levels of prizes you can earn. Let’s take a look at the screen and look at these together.
(refer to the the levels of prizes Prize Slide)
These are the three levels of prizes you can earn and beside each prize is the amount of signatures you’ll need to earn them. The level one prize is a Love Week lanyard for you to wear around your neck. The second is an awesome Love Week beachball for you to play with while you’re at the pool or relaxing at the warm beach on a breezy summer day. Lastly, the final prize is both a Love Week beach ball AND a Love Week flying disk that you can throw around with your friends. Pretty cool prizes that I’m sure you’ll get a ton of play time with all summer!
Now Motion, we’re going to make it SO EASY for you to earn your first signature on the back of your shirt because we have a Love Week event happening right after you leave Motion today. On the way out, just keep your eyes open for the signs pointing you towards the big Love Week event. You can’t miss it! There, you’ll be able to receive your Love Week t-shirt you can begin serving today!”
Game Setup – Xtreme Taps
“Now for our final game this month, we’ll be playing an extreme version of a pretty simple catch and pass game. During this game called ‘Xtreme Taps,’ your Game Group will form a circle and each Game Group will be given a soft ball. When I say ‘Go!’ your Game Group will toss the ball back and forth to each other. However, when you catch and pass the ball, you have to do it while jumping. So that means you’ve got to both catch AND toss the ball at the same time. Let me call up someone to the stage to help me demonstrate what this looks like.
(Call one person to the stage to have them help demonstrate the game. This person should be an eGroup leader, a theater volunteer, or an older kid who knows how to play the game. Demonstrate the game a few times, explaining as needed.)
Alright, thats the move you need to do each time the ball comes to you! Jump, catch, and pass!
Now, if you drop the ball as it comes to you, or if you make a pass that’s uncatchable, then you’ve got to step out of the circle until the next round begins. The game ends when there’s only one person remaining and at that point, your Game Group will bring everyone back in to play the game again.
Let’s take 30 seconds to divide into our Game Groups. Do that now.
(Help kids divide into Game Groups. Hand out supplies only when all kids are ready to play.)
Modification for younger kids: Younger kids don’t have to jump to play the game. They can play a version that is more like Hot Potato where they try to get the ball out of their hands as fast as possible. If they hold the ball for more than one second, they’re out.
