Connect Questions Intro
“Gideon kept forgetting something: God is with us. And if God is with us, He can work in and through us in ways we could never expect. God wants to use us, but we first have to learn to trust Him and realize that it is less about us and more about Him!”
Now, it’s time for us to answer a few questions about today’s Bible story and the video we just watched. Circle around your eGroup leaders now!
First question: Why did Gideon think that God couldn’t use him? How did Gideon hide from God? Discuss that now.
(give kids one minute to answer the question)
Next question: What does it mean when we say ’God can use you?’ How does God use your parents, teachers, or eGroup leaders to help you? Discuss that now.
(give kids two minutes to answer the question)
Last question: What kinds of things can God use you to do? Who can you help or what great things do you think God wants you to do?”
(give kids two minutes to answer the question)
“Wow, you really had some great answers today! Great job, Motion! Now, let’s be confident as we stand to our feet…
(motion for kids to stand up)
…and thank God for everything He’s done. Let’s sing, dance, and clap our hands and praise God as we sing ‘Dance.’”

Game Setup – The Climb
“That’s such a cool video! Make sure you’re here for Love Week, beginning in just two weeks!
Now Motion, it’s time for today’s game! During this series we’re taking a look at some of the most extreme sports in the world and you can’t talk about extreme sports without talking about rock climbing!
Now, in this series our Host, Max, is inside of a rock climbing center. Now, you may not consider a rock climbing center to be extreme, but rock climbing centers are training grounds for people who want to go conquer the biggest challenges in the world, just like the rock climber Alex Hannold. Alex is famous because he climbs the most difficult mountains in the world without using ropes or a harness. It’s extremely difficult, and honestly pretty stupid. However, he’s one of the best in the world and our game today is going to help you develop some of the muscles you need in order to become a world class climber, just like Alex. In fact, I want to show you what Alex does that makes him so special. Check this out.
(watch climbing video)
Now, let me repeat again: you should NEVER climb without the proper safety equipment, and you should definitely not try a mountain like this until you’ve built up the proper muscles to help yourself tackle such a great challenge. Today, we’re going to help you take the first step to building some of those muscles.
I’m going total out the name of a strength training move and you’ll have to move your body into the correct position without losing your balance or dropping out of the position.
Here are the positions. Stand up and let’s walk through them together:
Warrior: extend one leg behind you, reach your arms in front you.
Tree: one foot resting on opposite knee, hands above your head.
Chair: both knees bent, seated position, arms above you.
Triangle: legs in a triangle, one arm touching the floor in front of you, one arm raised.
Now the challenge with this game is moving between poses without falling out of your good, strength training form. If you fall out of position, then just sit down, rest your legs for 10 seconds, then get back up and try again. After about one minute of moves, I’ll have us all rest for a few seconds before we going the next round. Every round we play, I’ll get faster and faster, so try to keep up!
Let’s start with a few practice rounds of ‘The Climb’ and then we’ll get started!”
