Connect Questions Intro

“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego didn’t have to be afraid because they knew that God would be with them, no matter if they were in a new country, or even in the heart of a fiery furnace. They had confidence that God was always with them.

Now, it’s time for us to answer a few questions about today’s Bible story and the video we just watched. Circle around your eGroup leaders now!

First question: Why did the three men in the story refuse to worship King Nebuchadnezzar as their God? Why didn’t they want to bow down and worship him? Discuss that now.

(give kids one minute to answer the question)

Next question: Tell of a time when you felt afraid or alone. Did you ever feel that God was with you? Have you ever felt that before?

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Last question: We may have friends in life that feel they have no one to talk to, or they may feel alone. How can you help that friend? How can today’s Bible story help them?”

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Worship Intro

“Wow, you really had some great answers today! Just like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were confident that God was with them, we can be too. Let’s celebrate that God is with us by singing, dancing, clapping our hands, and praise God as we sing, ‘Louder.’”

“Now Motion, it’s time for the Bring It! Challenge!

The Bring It! Challenge is where you can earn fun prizes for doing something you already do — learning your memory verse and virtue! During this month’s Bring It! Challenge, you’ll need to do the following three things to receive a prize. Check out the screen.

(watch the Bring It! Challenge video)

That’s right, Motion! To receive your Bring It! prize, you’ll need to:

FIND Philippians 1:6 in your Bible and show it to your eGroup leader.

RECITE the verse for this series, Philippians 1:6, from memory.

SAY our virtue for this series from memory. In fact, that’s on the screen now, too!

(say the virtue again with the kids)

Confidence: Living like you believe what God says is true.

Ok, so let’s recap. To earn your prize, you’ll need to FIND this month’s verse, RECITE the verse to your eGroup leader, and SAY the virtue for this month. Take a look at the screen and you can see the prizes now!

(refer to the prize slide)

Circle around your eGroup leaders and let’s complete the Bring It! Challenge!”

Game Setup – Stick the Landing

“Now Motion, it’s time for today’s game! During our series Amped, we’ll be looking at different kinds of EXTREME sports and there’s nothing more extreme than the rush you get while you’re skydiving. Our game involves each of you becoming responsible for SAFELY bringing a team of skydivers to their final destination.

In this game, we’re going to divide you into Game Groups. Each Game Group, or group of 10 kids, will receive one skydiver per person. Your game group will line up behind a tape line on the floor and the first person in each Game Group will try to toss their skydiver onto the bullseye on the ground. Then, the next person will step forward and do the same.

The round ends when all 10 members of their Game Group have had a chance to toss their skydiver. The Game Group that has the most skydivers on the bullseye after 10 tosses wins the round.the most skydivers on the bullseye after 10 tosses wins the round.

Now, for our skydiving game, there’s one very important rule: the skydiver’s parachute MUST OPEN. We want our skydivers to land safely and to do so, they need to fall from a high enough altitude to have their parachutes deploy. That means when you go to toss the skydiver, you must toss the skydiver above your head and let him or her float to the ground.

My recommendation for this game is to underhand toss the skydiver high and try to get him or her to land safely. If I catch you just throwing the skydiver to the ground, I’m not going to count your toss towards your teams’ score.
Ok, Motion! Let’s bring our skydivers home safely! Form your Game Groups and let’s get ready to play, ‘Stick the Landing!’”
