COUNTDOWN

Welcome / Intro

“Welcome to Motion, everyone! I’m ________. As you might remember from last week, all month long we’re talking about honor!

“Honor is letting someone you know you see how valuable they really are. You’ve probably seen people show honor before, but just didn’t know it. Like, maybe you’ve seen the Kid’s Choice Awards, or you’ve seen people get awards at school. Well, those are a way to honor others. And this month, we’re hosting an awards show to put the spotlight on a few awesome people!

“So let’s get to it! Today’s award is the Awesome Outfit Award, and we’ve got some pretty sweet ones out there! The votes are in, and our two winners today are [girl’s name] and [boy’s name]! Let’s give them a huge round of applause as they come up to the stage and show off their style!

(allow the kids to come on stage and show off their outfits)

Great job, you two can have a seat!

Motion, we’ve been putting the spotlight on honor this month, so let’s check out the screen!”

Connect Questions / Dismissal to eGroups

“Motion, think about it – Jonathan was a prince! He didn’t have to share

Honor others by giving them a chance.

“So often, we look at the outside, but God always looks at the heart. And that’s what you and I need to do as well. it’s almost time for us to head anything with David. In fact, he didn’t even have to be friends with him. And yet he chose to give David not just some old sword he was tired of, but the very best that he had. He chose to warn David about his dad, even though his dad was the king! It’s super easy for us to go through life putting ourselves and what we want first But God turns that upside down by challenging us to put others first. That’s our main point today:

Honor others by putting them first.

We should do it because that’s what God does for us. Now it’s time for us to turn to our eGroup leader and answer a few questions from today’s story. Take 10 seconds and find your eGroup leader now.

(give kids time to circle around eGroup leaders)

First question: Why do you think Jonathan gave David the best that he had? Discuss that question now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Second question: Think of a friend that you treat like Jonathan treated David. Who is it and why do you treat them like that? Discus that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Final question and it’s today’s ‘See What God Can Do Through You’ question: What are some ways you can show honor to everybody? Discuss that question now.”

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Worship Intro

“Great job, everybody! I heard some incredible answer coming from your eGroups today.

Right now it’s time for us to go to God in worship and thank Him for what He’s done. Singing these songs is something we can do to honor God. As we focus on God and sing the words to these songs from our hearts, we thank Him for who He is and all He’s done for us. Let’s honor God today as we sing!”

VIP Welcome

“Welcome back from your eGroups! Before we dive back in to Fear Inc., let’s take a moment and welcome a special group of people who are here for the first time today. Motion, help me welcome our VIPs!

(initiate applause)

If it’s your first time here, we consider you a VIP – a very important person! VIPs, turn your attention to the screen because I’ve got some special instructions just for you.

(refer to the screen)

This is a VIP lanyard. If you’re a VIP, you’re wearing this around your neck right now.

[VIP Slide – Lanyard]

When you leave Motion, you need to take that lanyard to the orange tent called the Welcome Area.

[VIP Slide – Welcome Area]

Once you get to the Welcome Area, show them your lanyard and they will give you a gift!

[VIP Slide – Gift]

Let’s review.

[VIP Slide – All Combined]

VIP Lanyard + Welcome Area = Gift.”

Game Setup – Karao-Key Player

“Throughout Spotlight we’ll be showcasing different talents that you may have; last week we highlighted acting and artistic skills. This week we’ll be highlighting your musical talent as we play a game called Karao-Key Player.

I’ll call one kid from each eGroup to come on stage to participate in each round of the game. Kids on stage will hear a small part of a popular song and when the song clip ends, you’ll raise up this foam thumb

(hold up one of the foam thumbs)

to indicate you know the answer. Then, I’ll call on you and you’ve got to sing the next line of the song into the microphone.

The kid who is able to correctly sing the next line of the song earns their team 100 points and the team that earns the most points at the end of the game wins. Let’s get everybody to circle around their eGroup so we can get ready to be the Karao-Key Player!”

252 Movie Intro

“Motion, today we learned putting others first, even in small ways, shows you see their worth, because they’ve been made by God. When you honor others, God changes you to be a little more like Him, too! So here’s the main thing to remember:

Honor others by putting them first.

We can honor others just like Jonathan showed honor to David.

We know that Jonathan and David were best of friends, but I wonder what their relationship might have looked like if it were made for TV, just like some of the shows you guys might watch. Check out the screen!”
