252 Story

Connect Questions / Dismissal to eGroups

“As the walls of Jericho tumbled down, Joshua and his men quickly ran inside to take the city. Victory belonged to God’s people that day because of what God did through Joshua and the people of Israel.

“Now, it would have been easy for Joshua to be scared. And he might have been, but I have a feeling Joshua understood something we should remember today too.”

(refer to the slide on the screen)

You can take the next step because God is with you.

Can you say that with me?”

You can take the next step because God is with you.

That’s right. When you remember that God is with you, you don’t have to worry. You are NOT alone.

Before you head back to your eGroups, I want you to circle around your eGroup leaders because I’ve got a few questions I want you to answer. Take 10 seconds and circle around them now.

(give kids time to circle around eGroup leaders)

First question: Do you think the Israelites felt silly marching around the city while blowing trumpets? Why did they keep doing it? Discuss those questions now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Second question: When was the last time you did the right thing, even though it wasn’t the popular thing? Discus that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Final question and it’s today’s ‘See What God Can Do Through You’ question: How can you be bold when doing the right thing seems difficult? Discuss that question now.”

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Worship Intro

“Great job, everybody! I heard some incredible answer coming from your eGroups today.

Right now it’s time for us to go to God in worship and thank Him for what He’s done. The Bible is filled with amazing promises, and one of those is that God is for us. Every single day we can hold on to that truth. Let’s sing and celebrate that God is on our side. Stand to your feet as we sing ‘Undefeated!’”

Dismissal To eGroups

“Great job, Motion! Everybody stay standing because it’s time for us to head back to our eGroups. When I call your eGroup leaders’ name, you can stand up and follow them back.”

(dismiss kids back to eGroups)

VIP Welcome

“Welcome back from your eGroups! Before we dive back in to Fear Inc., let’s take a moment and welcome a special group of people who are here for the first time today. Motion, help me welcome our VIPs!

(initiate applause)

If it’s your first time here, we consider you a VIP – a very important person! VIPs, turn your attention to the screen because I’ve got some special instructions just for you.

(refer to the screen)

This is a VIP lanyard. If you’re a VIP, you’re wearing this around your neck right now.

[VIP Slide – Lanyard]

When you leave Motion, you need to take that lanyard to the orange tent called the Welcome Area.

[VIP Slide – Welcome Area]

Once you get to the Welcome Area, show them your lanyard and they will give you a gift!

[VIP Slide – Gift]

Let’s review.

[VIP Slide – All Combined]

VIP Lanyard + Welcome Area = Gift.”

Game Setup – Beanboozled

“Now Motion, because it’s Fall and it’s one of their favorite holidays of the year, my friends The Finders wanted to send you an awesome gift! In fact, this gift is so special…

(cue video of Goldman appearing on screen taunting the kids and setting up the premise of the game)

Oh no, Motion! If you want to receive the gift the Finders sent you, it looks like we’ve got to play Goldman’s game first!

In just a moment I’m going to have each eGroup form a circle and in the middle of each circle, I’ll place a golden goblet full of Goldman’s ‘gift’ in the middle. Then, we’ll play a round of hot potato until the music stops and whoever is holding the bean bag when the music ends must take one jelly bean from the goblet and eat it. I hope it’s a good tasting jelly bean because if not, it’s probably a flavor like puke, boogers, toothpaste or dog food!

Everyone circle up with your eGroup, we’ll pass out everything you need to play the game, and then we’ll get started playing ‘Beanboozled!’”

Bring It! Challenge Setup

“Motion, you all did an incredible job today and I’m so glad you’ve been here through Fear, Inc. to learn to take the next steps to becoming courageous. Throughout this series you’ve had the opportunity to earn all kinds of awesome prizes that will help you literally take your next step in our Bring It! Challenge.

For the final time this series, I’ll have you gather around your eGroup leaders to find your memory verse in your Bible AND recite it so you can earn some of the awesome prizes we’ve got for you. Go ahead and gather around your leaders and let’s complete the Bring It! Challenge!”

Bring It! Challenge Setup

252 Movie Intro

“I just had an idea! It will sound sort of silly, but just humor me. On my cue, everyone face the back wall and scream as loud as humanly possible. Ready? SCREAM!

(allow kids to scream)

“Wow! That was loud. Can we get someone to check and see if the wall is still standing?

(pause for response)

Wouldn’t it have been awesome if we knocked down that wall with our voices?! That’s all it took for the walls of Jericho to crumble! God had a plan for them to expose the city of Jericho with just their voices and some trumpets. But then again, the Israelites weren’t alone. God told them to do it, and they listened. God was with them. They didn’t question God’s plan, as odd as it may have sounded. To get an idea of what it may have been like to be there with Joshua and his army, let’s turn to two of our field reporters and see what went down. Check out the screen!”
