COUNTDOWN

Welcome / Intro

Welcome to Motion for another week of Fear Inc.! I’m so excited you’re all here today. Before we get started, I want to invite two of you to come on stage and play a game with me. I’ll call up two of you now.

Alright, welcome to the stage _____ and _______! Here are the rules. The name of a phobia is going to come up on our screen. You’ll get two options for what that phobia could mean. The person with the most right answers wins! Let’s play!

CG: Slide 1a

(To contestant 1) “First phobia. Is deipnophobia a fear of dinner parties or ducks? (Pause for response.) And the answer is …

CG: Slide 1b

“… dinner parties! Wow, who would ever be afraid of dinner? What kinda food are they eating?”

CG: Slide 2a

(To contestant 2) “Genuphobia is the fear of knees or kings? (Pause for response.) And the answer is …

CG: Slide 2b

“… knees! Wow. Anyone else in here suffer from a fear of knees?”

CG: Slide 3a

(To contestant 1) “Back to you. Aulophobia is the fear of authors or flutes? (Pause for response.) And the answer is …

CG: Slide 3b
“… flutes! I mean, I guess I get that fear, but only if someone is using their flute as a weapon!”

CG: Slide 4a

(To contestant 2) “Coulrophobia. Is it the fear or coloring or clowns? (Pause for response.)

CG: Slide 4b

“It’s clowns! But I think a lot of us understand the fear of some clowns. They CAN look kinda creepy.”

CG: Slide 5a

(To contestant 1) “Okay, this one is a doozy! Sesquipedalophobia is the fear of long words or long squids? (Pause for response.)

CG: Slide 5b

“Long words! I guess reading that phobia would actually make the phobia worse. Weird.

CG: Slide 6a

(To contestant 2) “Okay, last one for you. Omphalophobia is the fear of belly buttons or jellybeans? (Pause for response.)

CG: Slide 6b

“It’s belly buttons! Which ARE super strange, if you think about it.

Ok, great job to both of our contestants and congratulations to _______ for winning our first game today. As our contestants have a seat, it’s time for us to jump into today’s episode of Fear Inc. Check out the screen!

252 Story

Connect Questions / Dismissal to eGroups

“After 430 years in Egypt, the Israelites were able to leave. God’s people were finally free! God chose to start the process through a man named Moses who had every excuse in the book NOT to help the Israelites. Moses did not feel equipped or ready to negotiate with the king of Egypt. However, Moses trusted that God could use him in the midst of his fears.

Before you head back to your eGroups, I want you to circle around your eGroup leaders because I’ve got a few questions I want you to answer. Take 10 seconds and circle around them now.

(give kids time to circle around eGroup leaders)

First question: Why did Moses feel like he couldn’t do what God called him to do? Discuss that question now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Second question: When was the last time you were asked to do something you weren’t ready for? Discus that question now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Final question: When God asks us to do something we don’t think we’re ready for, what are a few ways that God gives us help? Discuss that now.”

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Worship Intro

“Great job, everybody! I heard some incredible answer coming from your eGroups today.

Right now it’s time for us to go to God in worship and thank Him for what He’s done. The Bible is filled with amazing promises, and one of those is that God is for us. Every single day we can hold on to that truth. Let’s sing and celebrate that God is on our side. Stand to your feet as we sing ‘Louder!’”

“Welcome back from your eGroups! Before we dive back in to Fear Inc., let’s take a moment and welcome a special group of people who are here for the first time today. Motion, help me welcome our VIPs!

(initiate applause)

If it’s your first time here, we consider you a VIP – a very important person! VIPs, turn your attention to the screen because I’ve got some special instructions just for you.

(refer to the screen)

This is a VIP lanyard. If you’re a VIP, you’re wearing this around your neck right now.

[VIP Slide – Lanyard]

When you leave Motion, you need to take that lanyard to the orange tent called the Welcome Area.

[VIP Slide – Welcome Area]

Once you get to the Welcome Area, show them your lanyard and they will give you a gift!

Game Setup – Consecotaleophobia

“Now Motion, throughout Fear Inc., you’ll learn how to gain courage and overcome your fear. Today, I’m here to help you over come your fear of one of the scariest things in the world – chopsticks!

In today’s game, each kid will receive a pair of chopsticks that you’ll use to carry as many cottontails from one side of the room to the other. The first kid in line will use their chopsticks to pick up cotton balls and transport them to the bucket on the other side of the room. The team that can get the most cotton balls in their bucket at the end of two minutes wins the round.

Now in just a moment we’ll hand out the chopsticks, and as we do, I want to show you a video about the proper way to hold them. Check this out.

(watch video with kids while handing out chopsticks)

Okay, it looks like you’re all ready to go! Stand up, form your lines and let’s get ready to play!”

252 Movie Intro

“Motion, today we learned that God used Moses, even though Moses thought he didn’t have what it took to be a leader. That brings us to today’s main point – take a look on the screen and say it with me!

You can take the next step even when you don’t feel ready.

Even when we don’t feel ready, we can still have the courage to know that God has a plan for our lives and wants us to do great things.

In fact, why don’t you guys check out this video for a little more night into how Moses’ story went down.”
