Connect Questions

“David had the chance to remove King Saul from power and to take the kingdom for his own – but he knew that God had another plan for his life. You see, even though Saul was an angry man who even tried to have David killed , David knew that God put Saul in his life for a reason and that no matter what, he needed to show Saul respect. That’s a tough lesson to learn, but that’s one of the many reasons why David was able to become one of the greatest kings that Israel has ever known.

Now, let’s answer a few questions about today’s Bible story. Circle around your eGroup leaders now!

(give kids time to circle around eGroup leaders)

First question: Name two things David did that showed respect to King Saul. Discuss that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Second question: Why do you think it’s tough to show some people respect? Discuss that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Now Motion, it’s time for our final question: How can you show someone in charge more respect this week? Discuss that with your eGroup now.”

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Game Setup – Respect The Turf

“The final game of our Drumline series is called ‘Respect The Turf’ where you and your team will have to work together to protect your turf from the paper balls flying all over the room.

In this game we’re going to divide the room into four different teams and each team will be responsible for throwing any paper balls that fly towards their teams turf back at another team. The team that has the least amount of paper on their side of the room after 30 seconds wins the round.

A few quick rules:

  1. After I say STOP, everyone has to STOP throwing their paper immediately. If I see someone throwing paper after we finish, I’m going to move a whole bunch of paper to their side of the room and add it to their teams’ total.
  1. After each round I’m going to add a new rule to play play during the next round. You’ve got to respect the rules and play by them because if you don’t, I’m going to add some paper to your teams’ side at the end of the round.
  1. Don’t throw paper at people’s faces. That’s just rude. Make sure you respect others!

Okay Motion! I’m going to divide you all into your four teams and then we’ll get ready to ‘Respect The Turf!’”
