Countdown

Welcome / Video Intro

“Hello Motion and welcome to the final week of Rise Above! All month we’ve been learning what it takes to Rise Above the negative voices you hear. This series we’ve been introduced to Daniel, a young man who is trying to remember God’s promises while fighting against the negative voices he hears from people at his school.

Daniel faces a new challenge this week from a bully who is trying to discourage him from being brave and doing something new and exciting. What will Daniel do when he hears this negative voice? Will he be able to rise above it? Let’s find out!”

Connect Questions

“God has a great plan for us and because God is with us, we know we shouldn’t be discouraged. Daniel heard today that God will make us stronger – strong enough to do what we never thought was possible without Him.

Now, let’s answer a few questions about today’s Bible story and how God gave Elijah courage. Circle around your eGroup leaders now!

(give kids time to circle around eGroup leaders)

First question: Why do you think that Elijah felt discouraged? Discuss that now.

(give kids one minute to answer the question)

Second question: When was the last time something seemed too difficult and you wanted to stop doing it? Discuss that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Now Motion, it’s time for our final question: Sometimes our friends may be going through something that makes them want to give up. What can you say to them that will help encourage them? Discuss that with your eGroup now.”

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Now, during this game, I’m going to try and trip you up by saying things like ‘Fries Above’ or ‘Rise Alone.’ If you move when I say one of those things, you’ll also be out and have to stay seated. eGroup leaders, you’ll help me keep track of who’s still in the game and who’s out.

For those of you that are out though, don’t worry! When I hit my boxing gloves together like this

(punch the boxing gloves together a few times)

That means that you’re back in the game and can begin playing immediately.
