WELCOME

“Welcome to Motion and welcome to our series The Hunt! This month, we’ve been learning all about wisdom and how we can grow in wisdom, just like Jesus did when he was your age. But what is wisdom and how can wisdom help us? Let’s check out the screen. I’ll read it out loud and then we’ll read it together.
Wisdom: Finding out what you should do and doing it.

This month we’ve been following a guy named Tyson who’s on a scavenger hunt in his grandparent’s house and has been finding all kinds of cool stuff. Unfortunately, Tyson may have found himself in a little bit of trouble this week. Let’s go check in with Tyson and see what’s up. Check out the screen!”

Connect Questions Intro

“Ok, so Rehoboam wasn’t the smartest guy out there. He had a REAL problem, but didn’t listen to the smart people that God had put around him. Rehoboam not only lost the trust of the people he was supposed to protect, but he lost his kingdom in the process, all because he made the choice to listen to some pretty foolish people.

Now, it’s time for us to answer a few questions about today’s Bible story and the video we just watched. Circle around your eGroup leaders now!

First question: What bad advice did Rehoboam receive from his friends? What would you have done instead? Discuss that now.

(give kids one minute to answer the question)

Next question: Do you have any friends who make unwise choices? Remember: Don’t use the names of kids as you talk. Be kind!

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Last question: Who in your life can you trust to give good advice? How can you ask that person for advice the next time you have to make an important decision?”

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Worship Intro

“Great job, Motion! I heard some amazing answers coming from your eGroups. When we seek out the wisdom from God’s Word and put it into action, we can live like God wants us to. One way we can live like God wants us to is to worship and sing songs, thanking Him for everything He’s done for us.

And we’re going to sing, dance, and thank God for everything He’s given us. Everyone stand to your feet and let’s worship God by singing, ‘Alive.’”

Worship Song – Alive

Worship Song – Louder

Dismissal To eGroups

“Great job, Motion! Everybody stay standing because it’s time for us to head back to our eGroups. When I call your eGroup leaders’ name, you can follow them back and gain a little wisdom yourself.”

(dismiss kids back to eGroups)

VIP Welcome

“Welcome back from your eGroups, Motion! Before we continue, I want to take a moment and welcome our VIPs who are here with us for the first time today! Motion, help me welcome our VIPs!

(initiate applause)

If it’s your first time here, we consider you a VIP – a very important person! VIPs, turn your attention to the screen because I’ve got some special instructions just for you.

(refer to the screen)

This is a VIP lanyard. If you’re a VIP, you’re wearing this around your neck right now.

[VIP Slide – Lanyard]

When you leave Motion, you need to take that lanyard to the __________ tent called the Welcome Area.

[VIP Slide – Welcome Area]

Once you get to the Welcome Area, show them your lanyard and they will give you a gift!

[VIP Slide – Gift]

Let’s review.

[VIP Slide – All Combined]

VIP Lanyard + Welcome Area = Gift.

If you have any questions about where to go or what to do, just ask someone in an eKidz shirt and we’ll be more than happy to help you out!”

BRING IT! CHALLENGE SETUP

“Now Motion, it’s time for the Bring It! Challenge!

The Bring It! Challenge is where you can earn fun prizes for doing something you already do — learning your memory verse and virtue! During this month’s Bring It! Challenge, you’ll need to
do the following three things to receive a prize. Check out the screen.

(watch the Bring It! Challenge video)

That’s right, Motion! To receive your Bring It! prize, you’ll need to:

FIND James 1:5a in your Bible and show it to your eGroup leader.

RECITE the verse for this series, James 1:5a, from memory.

SAY our virtue for this series from memory. In fact, that’s on the screen now, too!

(say the virtue again with the kids)

Wisdom: Finding out what you should do and doing it.

Ok, so let’s recap. To earn your prize, you’ll need to FIND this month’s verse, RECITE the verse to your eGroup leader, and SAY the virtue for this month. Take a look at the screen and you can see the prizes now!

(refer to the prize slide)

Now, let’s circle around our eGroup leaders and complete the Bring It! Challenge!”

Game Setup – Moving Statues

“Great job during the Bring It! Challenge, Motion! Now it’s time for us to play today’s game! In the game you’ll be a statue when I shine a flashlight on you, but when you’re in the shadows, you’ve be moving around the room. The goal of the game is to do the actions I call until I shine a light on you. When I shine the light on you, you’ve got to remain completely motionless, just like a statue.

Like I said, I’m going to call out moves you have to do. I may ask that everyone in the room start performing jumping jacks. I may ask everyone in the room to hop around on one foot. Whatever the challenge is, you have to do that action until the round is over.

If I catch you moving when the light is shown on you, I’m going to send you to the attic, just like Tyson was in the attic of today’s videos. I’ll need one or two of my volunteer leaders to help me maintain control of the attic, as I’m anticipating lots of kids getting out in the later rounds of this game.

One round lasts for one minute. Once a round ends, I’ll call everyone who got put in the attic back into the game and we’ll begin again with a brand new challenge with a brand new motion you’ve got to do during that round.

Ok, everyone stand to your feet and let’s get ready to play ‘Moving Statues!’ During the first round you’ll all have to jump high in the air until I shine the light on you. Are you ready? Let’s go!”
