Welcome / Video Intro

“Welcome back to Motion for our brand new series called Brain Games! All month long we’re learning who God is and how He loves us. God says that His ‘…word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.’ That means the more we learn who God is and what He says, the more we can learn how to live better, smarter, and healthier lives.

We’ve been following Austin, the newest hire at a local game store, as he’s learning about the different games in the store and trying to increase his knowledge about games. In case you forgot what knowledge is, take a look at the screen and say it with me:

Knowledge: Learning something new so you can be better at whatever you do.

Today, Austin’s got his hands full with one of the biggest puzzles I’ve ever seen. Hopefully he’s got the knowledge about what it takes to put a puzzle this size together. Take a look at the screen!”

Connect Questions

“John announced to the crowd that THIS Man standing in front of him was the Savior they were all looking for! And the people that followed John the Baptist in his journey spreading God’s Word looked Jesus up and down and knew without a SHADOW of a doubt that John was right.

Speaking of knowing, I KNOW that it’s time for us to circle around our eGroup leaders to answer a few questions about today’s Bible story. Do that now.

(give kids time to circle around eGroup leaders)

First question: What was John the Baptist’s job? What was he supposed to do? Discuss that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Second question: When was the last time you helped someone get something done? How do you think that made them feel? Discuss that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Now Motion, our final question is our ‘See What God Can Do Through You’ question which is all about how you can use today’s Bible story to show God’s love to the people around you. Today’s question is: When you have a friend who has to do something important, why should you have a good attitude while you help them? Discuss that question now.”

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Worship Intro

“Great job, everybody! I heard some incredible answers coming from your eGroups today.

Now, I want everybody to stand to their feet

(encourage kids to stand)

because we have the opportunity to thank God for who He is and all that He has done for us. We’re going to sing and dance to ‘Alive’. Let’s get ready to worship!”

Dismissal To eGroups

“Great job, Motion! Everybody stay standing because it’s time for us to head back to our eGroups. When I call your eGroup leaders’ name, you can follow them back.”

(dismiss kids back to eGroups)

VIP Welcome

“Welcome back from your eGroups! Before we continue, I wanted to take a moment and welcome some very special guests who came to visit us for the first time. Motion, help me welcome our VIPs!

(initiate applause)

If it’s your first time here, we consider you a VIP – a very important person! VIPs, turn your attention to the screen because I’ve got some special instructions just for you.

(refer to the screen)

This is a VIP lanyard. If you’re a VIP, you’re wearing this around your neck right now.

[VIP Slide – Lanyard]

When you leave Motion, you need to take that lanyard to the orange tent called the Welcome Area.

[VIP Slide – Welcome Area]

Once you get to the Welcome Area, show them your lanyard and they will give you a gift!

Let’s review.

Game Setup – Color Codes

“During Brain Games we’ve been practicing exercises to help us train our brains and increase our knowledge, and today’s game will help you increase your short term memory.

To do this we’re going to roll out some giant game mats filled with all kinds of colors. You’ll hear and see a pattern on the screen and after you see a slide that says ‘Your Turn’ you’ll have to repeat the pattern by jumping on the correct squares. It’s sort of like the game Simon, if you’ve ever played that before.

We’ll have our eGroup leaders and volunteers play the first round of this game and see how far they get. Then, it’ll be your turn and you’re going to try and make it further in the pattern than THEY did. Watch them and learn from them, then watch them make a mistake and do better than them. Sounds simple, right? Let’s have our volunteers roll out our giant mats, then I want all of you kids to stand back and watch them as they play the game first. Make sure you’re studying the patterns and

Let’s get ready to play!”

Bring It! Challenge Setup

“Great job, Motion! I knew you all could beat your eGroup leaders! You’ve been impressing me throughout this month and we’ve got one final game next week that you definitely wont want to miss. Let’s clean up these game mats and get ready for our Bring It! Challenge.

(collect all game materials and make sure eGroup leaders have supplies to complete the Bring It! Challenge)

During this month’s Bring It! Challenge, you’ll need to do the following three things to stretch your brain and receive a prize:

1. SAY our memory verse for this series, Psalm 119:105. In fact, let’s say it together right now!

(refer to the verse on the screen and have the kids say it with you)

2. FIND Psalm 119:105 in your Bible and show it to your eGroup leader.

3. RECITE our virtue for this series. In fact, that’s on the screen now, too! Say it with me!

(refer to the virtue slide on the screen)

Ok, so let’s recap. To earn your prize, you’ll need to say this month’s verse, find it in your Bible, and repeat this month’s virtue. Circle around your eGroup leaders and let’s work on that now!”
