Countdown

Welcome / Video Intro

“Hello and welcome to Motion! I’m so excited you’re here for the final week of Brain Games – our series all about how we can train our brains to to be better at whatever we do. In fact, that sounds a lot like our virtue for this month! Take a look at the screen and let’s say it together:

Knowledge: Learning something new so you can be better at whatever you do.

(practice this a few times with the kids, make sure everyone is saying it together)

Great job! Now learning something new is important, but it’s what you DO with the information that really helps you remember it. You see, after you learn something new, you need to store that information in your LONG TERM memory – a place where you put all of the details that are going to matter a long time from now. Now Motion, I wanted to give you all a heads up that EVERY SINGLE detail you see throughout our time today CAN and WILL be used in our game at the end of the day. I’m talking about the virtue we just said, this month’s memory verse, or even small details in the movies we watch together. As you enjoy today’s experience, pay close attention to everything you see and hear in order to become today’s memory masters.

All this month we’ve been following Austin, the newest employee at our local game store who is trying to gain knowledge about all of the different kinds of game. Let’s find out how he’s doing. Check out the screen!”

Connect Questions

““The devil was really out to trip Jesus up! Any of the choices presented to Jesus could have been easily accomplished by the Son of God. Jesus could have turned that rock into bread with a blink or been caught by angels in a snap! But Jesus used the most powerful ammunition He had against the devil’s devious choices: the Word of God. Jesus had the knowledge to remember what God said and to what God commanded.

Now Motion, it’s time for us to circle around our eGroup leaders to answer a few questions. Do that now.

(give kids time to circle around eGroup leaders)

First question: Why was the devil trying to get Jesus to sin? What was he supposed to do? Discuss that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Second question: Who helps you figure things out when you’re tempted to do something wrong? Discuss that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Now Motion, our final question is our ‘See What God Can Do Through You’ question which is all about how you can use today’s Bible story to show God’s love to the people around you. Today’s question is: How can you be a good friend when someone you know is tempted to do something wrong? What could you so or do for them? Discuss that question now.”

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Worship Intro

“Great job, everybody! I heard some incredible answers coming from your eGroups today.

Now, I want everybody to stand to their feet

(encourage kids to stand)

as we sings songs of celebration and praise. Today and every day is a great day to sing God’s praises. Don’t hold anything back, let’s go!

Dismissal To eGroups

“Great job, Motion! Everybody stay standing because it’s time for us to head back to our eGroups. When I call your eGroup leaders’ name, you can follow them back.”

(dismiss kids back to eGroups)

VIP Welcome

“Welcome back from your eGroups! Before we continue, I wanted to take a moment and welcome some very special guests who came to visit us for the first time. Motion, help me welcome our VIPs!

(initiate applause)

If it’s your first time here, we consider you a VIP – a very important person! VIPs, turn your attention to the screen because I’ve got some special instructions just for you.

(refer to the screen)

This is a VIP lanyard. If you’re a VIP, you’re wearing this around your neck right now.

[VIP Slide – Lanyard]

When you leave Motion, you need to take that lanyard to the orange tent called the Welcome Area.

[VIP Slide – Welcome Area]

Once you get to the Welcome Area, show them your lanyard and they will give you a gift!

Let’s review.

Game Setup – Memory Masters

“During Brain Games we’ve been practicing exercises to help us train our brains and increase our knowledge, and as I mentioned earlier, today is all about stretching your long term memory.

In just a moment I’m going to have you all divide into game groups, or groups of 10, and we’ll hand each game group a whiteboard and marker. I’ll ask you some questions about things you either heard or saw today and you’ll have to choose the best answer from a list of possible answers on the screen. Your game group will write the answer on the board, hold it up, and we’ll figure out which teams are the memory masters.

Let’s get ready to play!”

Bring It! Challenge Setup

“Great job, Motion! Thanks for playing brain games with us all month, and make sure you’re here next week as we begin a brand new series. Let’s collect our game supplies as we prepare for our Bring It! Challenge.

(collect all game materials and make sure eGroup leaders have supplies to complete the Bring It! Challenge)

During this month’s Bring It! Challenge, you’ll need to do the following three things to stretch your brain and receive a prize:

1. Say our memory verse for this series, Psalm 119:105. In fact, let’s say it together right now!

(refer to the verse on the screen and have the kids say it with you)

2. Show Psalm 119:105 in your Bible to your eGroup leader.

3. Say our virtue for this series. In fact, that’s on the screen now, too! Say it with me!

(refer to the virtue slide on the screen)

Ok, so let’s recap. To earn your prize, you’ll need to say this month’s verse, find it in your Bible, and repeat this month’s virtue. Circle around your eGroup leaders and let’s work on that now!”
