KID CONNECT

COLORING PAGE

BEFORE THE ACTIVITY
What you need: crayons, coloring pages
What you do: Place the crayons in the center of the circle and give each child a coloring page.

DURING THE ACTIVITY
What you do: Instruct children to color their coloring page. As children color, get to know them by asking what they have done today or what they are going to do.

AFTER THE ACTIVITY
What you do: Make sure children’s names are on their page and set the pages aside until children are picked up at the end of the worship experience.

OATS FOR OLLIE

BEFORE THE ACTIVITY
What you need:
giant game board, oats pieces (40), spinner, Ollie piece, candy obstacle pieces (3)

What you do:
Place the game board in the center of the group and put Ollie on the “Start” space. Scatter the oats pieces around the game board (not on the path). Place candy obstacle pieces on any three spaces along the path.

What you say: “Ollie is heading back to the Clubhouse, and he’s pretty hungry! We need to work together to gather all the oats before Ollie gets to the Clubhouse so he’ll have plenty to eat.”

DURING THE ACTIVITY
What you do:
Explain children will all be working together. This game is cooperative, not competitive, so everyone wins or loses together.

Children will take turns spinning the spinner and then moving Ollie along the path to the next space that matches the picture on the spinner. As they move, the whole group should count aloud the number of spaces moved. Collect that many oats pieces from anywhere on the game board and stack them on the Clubhouse. If the spinner lands on the eGroup Leader, the eGroup Leader will take one oats piece from the Clubhouse.

If Ollie lands on a space showing the Quest animal with oats, the group can put one extra oats piece on the Clubhouse. If Ollie lands on a space with a candy obstacle piece, before moving on everyone must stand up and pretend to jump over a big piece of icky sticky candy.

When Ollie reaches the Clubhouse, the game is over. If all the oats pieces are in the Clubhouse by the time he gets there, everyone wins!

CANDY WALK

BEFORE THE ACTIVITY
What you need: candy piece cards (20), foam die (1)What you do: Create a large circle on the floor with the candy piece cards. Ask each child to stand behind a candy piece card (around the outside of the circle).What you say: “This circle is going to be our eGroup’s Sweet Shop! As you walk around our Sweet Shop, make sure you are always standing right behind one of our candy pieces. The last child left standing in the Sweet Shop wins!”

DURING THE ACTIVITY
What you do: Explain children will walk around the circle as you clap a steady beat, stepping from one card to the next as you clap. (Remind children to stand behind the cards, not on them.) When you stop clapping, all children should freeze behind one of the candy piece cards. Roll the foam die and then read one of the statements below. Use the following key to determine which candy piece word to say when reading an instruction below:

1 = sprinkles 3 = green candy 5 = Sweet Shop sign2 = peppermint 4 = yellow candy 6 = everyone

Continue rolling the die and reading the statements below until only one child is left. If multiple children remain at the end, declare them each a winner!

What you say:
“If you are standing behind the [candy card], march in place while you pretend to march around the candy shop and turn on our candy-making machines!”

“If you are standing behind the [candy card], you are OUT! Have a seat in the middle of the Sweet Shop.” (If a 6 is rolled, roll again.)“If you are standing behind the [candy card], walk to three other friends and tell them, ‘The Sweet Shop is open!’ Then return to your candy piece card.”

SWEET CHOICES

BEFORE THE ACTIVITY
What you need: foam die (1), question sheet (1), Quest animal stickers
What you do: Seat children in a circle.
What you say: “This month we’re learning about how much Jesus loves each of us. He loves us more than anyone else ever will, and He loves us no matter what! Before we hear a Bible story about a time when Jesus showed how big His love is, let’s get to know each other a little bit better!”

DURING THE ACTIVITY
What you do: Give each child a turn to roll the die. Ask the child to answer one of the questions for the rolled number from the question sheet.
After all children are introduced, pass out a Quest animal sticker to each child. Have each child place it next to their name tag.

What you say:
“We are the (insert animal name) today! There are two very special rules to remember so we can have the most fun. The rules to follow are:
Be Safe – How can we be safe? (keeping our hands to ourselves, sitting when others are sitting, walking instead of running, following the rules)
Be Kind – How can we be kind? (listening when others are talking, sharing, obeying leaders, sitting on our bottoms so others can see)
If you can obey our special rules and are ready to have fun then put one hand in the center and repeat after me:
I am (allow response)
a (insert group name) (allow response)
I will (allow response)
be kind and safe! (allow response)
On the count of three everyone, say ‘Go (insert animal name)!’

AFTER THE ACTIVITY
What you say: “Now that we all know each other and we know the rules, we’re ready to hear a Bible story about a time when Jesus showed someone His amazing love for them!”

BEFORE THE ACTIVITY
What you need: God’s Story for Me Bible, Bible story stickers
What you say: “We can find true stories in God’s book, the Bible!”

DURING THE ACTIVITY
What you do: Show and read the Bible story from pages 314-319 in the God’s Story for Me Bible. Ask the Bible story review questions. Each time a child answers a question correctly, give the child a sticker. If children can’t remember the answer, take time as an eGroup to look back through the Bible story and find the answer together.
What you say: “Let’s see how much you remember from our Bible story!”
“Were Jesus and His friends walking or resting at home?” (walking)
“After they had been walking, were they excited and energized or hot and tired?” (hot and tired)
“Did Jesus go into town with His friends to buy food?”(no)
“Where did Jesus sit to rest?”(by the well)
“When a woman came to get water from the well, what did Jesus ask her for?” (a drink)
“Did Jesus know a lot about her or nothing about her?” (He knew a lot about her.)
“Who did Jesus tell her was the Savior God promised to send?” (He was the Savior.)

AFTER THE ACTIVITY
What you say: “Jesus wasn’t worried about who the woman was or what kinds of things she had done. He loved her and spent time talking with her because Jesus loves everyone! Who does Jesus love?” (Jesus loves everyone.)

VERSE VOICES

BEFORE THE ACTIVITY
What you need: no supplies
What you say: “Our Bible verse tells us we should show love to others because Jesus has already given His great love to us!”

DURING THE ACTIVITY
What you do: Say the memory verse and do the motions in front of the children. After showing them once, encourage children to practice the memory verse with you using different voices.
What you say: “I am going to say our memory verse. Everyone watch me! (Demonstrate the memory verse as shown in the sidebar.) Now let’s do it all together! Are you ready? (Say the memory verse with the motions several times.) Now let’s try the verse in some silly voices!”
“Say the verse in a high, sweet voice, like a super sweet lollipop!”
“Say the verse in a soft voice, like soft, fluffy cotton candy!”
“Say the verse super slooooowly, like you’re stretching out a piece of taffy!”

AFTER THE ACTIVITY
What you say: “Great job, friends! Jesus has given us His love so we can share it with others!”
What you do: Explain to the group children can recite the verse each week to earn a memory verse card for their Wonder! Clubhouse poster!

VERSE CORRECTION

BEFORE THE ACTIVITY
What you need: candy plates (1)
What you do: Seat children in a circle. Place the candy plate in the center of the circle.
What you say: “Our Bible verse tells us we should show love to others because Jesus has already given His great love to us!”

DURING THE ACTIVITY
What you do: Explain children will listen to you say the verse. Most of the time, you’ll say it with a mistake in it. When children hear the mistake, they should put a finger over their mouth. When you say the verse correctly, children will race to put their finger on the candy plate. The last child to put their finger on the plate will choose two friends to stand and say the verse with them. Repeat until all children have had an opportunity to practice the verse.
Suggestions for ways to say the verse with mistakes (mistakes are underlined):
“Love each other as I have loved yummy candy.”
“Love each otter as I have loved you.”
“Love your mother as I have loved you.”
“Love each other as eyeball has loved you.”

AFTER THE ACTIVITY
What you say: “Great job, friends! Jesus has given us His love so we can share it with others!”
What you do: Explain to the group children can recite the verse each week to earn a memory verse card for their Wonder! Clubhouse poster!

SWEET MEMORY

BEFORE THE ACTIVITY
What you need: memory cards (12)
What you do: Spread the matching cards on the floor by laying the cards face-down in a 4×3 grid.
What you say: “I’m so thankful Jesus loves everyone, even though we’re all different! Let’s look at some of the different people Jesus loves.”

DURING THE ACTIVITY
What you do: Explain children will take turns turning over two cards. If the two cards match, read the prompt below that corresponds to the matching cards. The child can hold onto the two cards until the end of the game. If the two cards do not match, the child will return them to the same spots, face-down.
What you say: (As a match is found, read the prompt below for that match.)

SHORT CHILD/TALL CHILD: “Some of us are small, and some of us are big. But Jesus doesn’t care what size we are; He loves us no matter what! Stretch your arms wide because Jesus’ love for you is big no matter how big you are!” 
(Encourage children to stretch out their arms.)

DIFFERENT FAMILIES: “Some of us live with a mom and dad. Some of us might live with only one parent. Some of us might even live with grandparents or aunts and uncles. But no matter what our family looks like, Jesus loves us more than anyone! High-five a friend because even if their family is different than yours, Jesus loves you both the same!” (Encourage children to high-five a friend.)

CHILDREN OF DIFFERENT ETHNICITIES: “We might all come from different places or look different than each other, but Jesus loves us all just the same! Give yourself a hug because Jesus loves you all the same!” (Encourage children to hug themselves.)

ELDERLY PERSON/CHILD: “Whether we are old or young, Jesus doesn’t love us any more or less because of our age. He loves children just as much as He loves grown-ups! Stand up on your tiptoes and stretch high because Jesus will love you when you’re all grown-up just as much as He does now!” (Encourage children to stand on their tiptoes.)

CHILD IN WHEELCHAIR/CHILD RUNNING: “We may have different abilities than our friends or look different on the outside, but Jesus loves us because of who we are on the inside. Clap your hands three times to celebrate our differences because Jesus loves us all and He loves our differences!” 
(Encourage children to clap.)

CHILD SINGING/CHILD PLAYING SOCCER: “We enjoy doing different things and have different gifts and talents, but Jesus loves us all because He is the One who gave us different interests and gifts. Pat yourself on the back because Jesus loves us all even though we’re all good at different things!” (Encourage children to pat themselves on the back.)

AFTER THE ACTIVITY
What you say: “No matter what we look like, what we enjoy, or who we are, Jesus loves us all the same! Who does Jesus love?” (Jesus loves everyone.)

eKIDZ JOURNAL AND MAIN POINT CARD

BEFORE THE ACTIVITY
What you need: eKidz eGroup prayer journal, pen, sample Wonder! Clubhouse poster, main point cards (1 per child), glue, Sharpie marker
What you say: “God can do great things through us when we learn and live out what the Bible says! Today we learned Jesus loves everyone!”

DURING THE ACTIVITY
What you do: Take out your eGroup prayer journal and pen. Write down each child’s name and what they say in the journal. Pray with the group.
What you say: “Our verse tells us to love each other the way Jesus loves us, right? Let’s make a list of ways Jesus loves us. Then we can pray and ask God to help us love others like that. When I say your name, tell me one of the ways Jesus loves us.” (Write each child’s name and what they say in the journal. You may have to give some ideas of ways Jesus loves us, like He’s a good friend, He protects us, He makes us better when we’re sick, He helps us when we’re afraid, He gives us what we need, He helps us do hard things, etc.)
Let’s pray together now! Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus to be our friend forever. Thank You that He loves everyone no natter what. We want to love everyone the way Jesus loves us. Please help us to do things like (read the list the children made), so people will know we love them. You are the best, God! We love You! In Jesus’ name, amen.”
What you do: Give each child a main point card. Encourage children to color their main point cards as you talk. Show the prizes on the back of the sample Wonder! Clubhouse poster.
What you say: “Each weekend you visit Wonder! Clubhouse you’ll get main point cards to add to your Wonder! Clubhouse poster. Collect six cards and bring your poster back to Quest to receive a special prize! We have some really special Quest animal prizes that we can’t wait to share with you once you bring back your filled poster!
Today’s main point card says, ‘Jesus loves everyone.’ I want you to color your main point card now. Add this card to your Wonder! Clubhouse poster at home.”

VIPs AND CHILDREN WHO NEED A NEW WONDER! CLUBHOUSE POSTER: Give the child a poster and glue the main point card on it. Write the child’s name on the front of the poster with the Sharpie marker.

AFTER THE ACTIVITY
What you say: “Make sure to keep your poster in a place you can see it every day to help you remember what we learn in Quest and to spend time with Jesus. Today we learned Jesus loves everyone!”
What you do: Take your journal home with you so you can pray for your eGroup children by name throughout the week.

FRIEND TO FRIEND

BEFORE THE ACTIVITY
What you need: no supplies
What you do: Spread children out around the eGroup space.
What you say: “We’re going to play a game to practice our main point! I will call out a body part pair like ‘elbow to elbow’ and when I do, I want you to find a friend and put those two things together. So you would find a friend and touch your elbows together. The last two friends to put those two things together will have to say the main point together, or they will be out for the next round!”

DURING THE ACTIVITY
What you do: Call out one of the body part pairs below. Encourage children to find a friend and put those two things together. The last two friends to do so should say the main point together. If they cannot, sit them out for one round.

Remind children not to run or push while playing the game!
If the eGroup has an odd number of children, let children know you are available to be someone’s friend.
