Camp Director Cricket (V.O.): Well, hello there campers! I’m Camp Director Cricket. Welcome to Camp Wannastay. I just love the outdoors and spending time at camp! I love it so much I wannastay everyday! And today is a special day because it’s Red Rabbit Day at camp. I hope all of you are wearing red for Red Rabbit Day! We’re going to have so much fun today on our camp adventures. First let’s meet your camp counselor, Poncho! On the count of three can you all yell “Poncho?” 1, 2, 3!

(Allow kids to yell, “Poncho.”)

Poncho: (Walks onto stage, wearing the Red Rabbit mask, holding the walkie talkie in hand.) Wow, what a welcome! Thanks Camp Director Cricket, and thanks friends. I’m Poncho and I just love Camp Wannastay and Red Rabbit Day! I see you are ready to celebrate Red Rabbit Day too – your Red Rabbit masks look great, campers. If you’re ready to celebrate Red Rabbit, then stand up!

(Allow children to stand up.)

Poncho: Since it’s Red Rabbit Day at camp, let’s pretend to be Red Rabbits! Red Rabbits like to hop around, so let me see you hop around like Red Rabbit! (Hop in place, and encourage the children to hop in place as well.) Great job, campers! You make great Red Rabbits!

(Take Red Rabbit mask off and put it inside the backpack. Allow time for eGroup Leaders to collect Red Rabbit masks from all the children in their eGroups.)

(Directs children’s attention towards screen.)

Poncho: (After seeing Hoot peaking out on the screen.) Oh look campers, it looks like our friend Hoot is flying our way! (Once Hoot appears completely on the screen, waves excitedly.) Hi Hoot!

Poncho: (Hears bugle noise.) Oh boy! That sound can only mean one thing – CAMP MAIL! (Dances around with excitement.)

Poncho: Camp mail is one of my favorite things about being at camp because you never know who might send it. Today at Camp Wannastay we got a post card from the Red Rabbit! (Holds up walkie talkie to talk to Camp Director Cricket.) Camp Director Cricket, can you read it to us?

Video: Red Rabbit Postcard WK 3

Camp Director Cricket (V.O.): Sure, Poncho. Campers, today’s camp mail is from Red Rabbit since we’re celebrating Red Rabbit Day! Listen closely as I read the post card to you!

Hey campers! Thank you for coming to Red Rabbit Day at Camp Wannastay! Today during Red Rabbit Day, we’re going to learn, “Leaders obey!”

I’m a leader because one time at Camp Wannastay, I listened to Camp Director Cricket when she told everyone to stay on the trail while hiking. Going off the trail could have been dangerous, but I was a leader because I obeyed. You can be a leader and obey, too! Have fun today, and remember, “Leaders obey!”

Red Rabbit

Poncho: (Holds up walkie talkie to talk to Camp Director Cricket.) Thank you Camp Director Cricket!

And you know who tells the best campfire stories at Camp Wannastay? Why, our good friend Brownie Bear, of course! I bet Brownie Bear is busy trying to find some honey for her belly, but let’s see if she can tell us a camp fire story!

Poncho: Oh, I love campfire stories! On the count of three, let’s all say “Brownie Bear!” as loud as we can. Ready? 1, 2, 3! Brownie Bear!

(Cup hand to ear, pretending to listen for Brownie Bear.)

Poncho: We must not have been loud enough. Campers, we’re going to need to use our outside voices to call Brownie Bear. On the count of three, let’s all say “Brownie Bear!” with our outdoor voices. Ready? 1, 2, 3! Brownie Bear!

(Cup hand to ear, pretending to listen for Brownie Bear.)

(Directs children’s attention towards screen.)

Video: Hoot

Poncho: (After seeing Hoot peaking out on the screen.) It sounds like Hoot!

Poncho: (Once Hoot appears completely on the screen, wave excitedly.) Hi again, Hoot! (To the children.) We know Hoot loves to sing songs about Jesus! He also loves to learn verses from the Bible, just like you’ve been doing! To help us learn this Bible verse, we’re going to sing a song together. Are you ready to sing? Let’s all stand up and sing with Hoot!

(Allow children to sit down.)

Slide: CWAN_LG_Screen Graphic

Camp Director Cricket (V.O.): Great job campers! Our Bible verse teaches us how we can learn from our Bible story. Poncho, you know what that means – remember, think and follow!

Poncho: That’s right! Time for us to remember our Bible story, think about the good things from our story, and follow the example set by the people in the Bible story.

Slide: CWAN_Remember WK4

Poncho: First, let’s REMEMBER (point to head) who the leader is. Who was the leader we learned about today?

(Allow children to answer – “David”)

Poncho: Yes, that’s right!

Slide: CWAN_Think WK4

Poncho: Now, let’s THINK (two thumbs up) about the good things she did. Did Deborah let others go first to help win the battle?

(Allow children to answer – “By going to the camp!”)

Poncho: Great job friends!

Slide: CWAN_Follow WK4

Poncho: Now, let’s say how can we FOLLOW (march in place) David’s example and be a leader. How can you be a leader like David?

(Allow children to answer – “By obeying!”)

Poncho: Wow, way to go friends! You’re on your way to being great leaders already.

Thanks for joining us at Camp Wannastay for Red Rabbit Day. I hope you had fun and wannastay just like I do! See you all next week. Bye, campers!

Poncho: It’s time for me to head to the lake and time for you to continue celebrating Red Rabbit Day in eGroup! eGroup Leaders, go ahead and help your group put their Red Rabbit masks on. I’ll see you next week. Bye, campers!
