“Welcome to Motion and welcome to our new series jTV – Forgiveness in Real Life! This month we’re going to learn all about forgiveness and how we can show forgiveness, even when people may have hurt us. But what is forgiveness and why is it so important? Let’s take a look at the scene and find out.
Forgiveness: Showing love to someone who has hurt you.

This month we’ll follow a kid named Jay who just started his LiveStream – a way for him to show everybody online who he is and the fun things him and his friends do. But something’s about to happen that’s going to shake up the friendship between Jay and his friends, DeeDee and Aaron. Let’s tune in to Jay’s LiveStream and find out what’s happening in the first episode of jTV! Check out the screen!

jTV Episode 1

Connect Questions

“It looks like Jay may have made a huge mistake when he got mad at Aaron! But did Jay really need to get mad at Aaron? Do you think Aaron is going to be able to forgive Jay for the way he yelled at him? Make sure you’re here next week as we find out what’s going to happen in the next episode of jTV!”

Now, let’s answer a few questions about today’s Bible story and the episode of jTV we watched. Circle around your eGroup leaders now!

(give kids a few moments to gather around their eGroup leaders)

First question: Jay asked for forgiveness from his teacher for having his camera out, but he didn’t show Aaron forgiveness when Aaron made him drop his camera. What could Jay have done? Discuss that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Second question: Has a friend ever made you angry? Were you able to forgive them? How did you do it?

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Final question: In your own words, tell your eGroup leader what you think forgiveness is. Are you good or bad at forgiving people?

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Worship Intro

“Motion, you had some great answers today! Forgiveness is so important to us because God loves us enough to forgive us of our sins, or the wrong things we’ve done. That’s why He sent His son, Jesus. Today, we’re going to sing and celebrate that God loves us and has forgiven us. Everyone stand to your feet as we dance and sing, ‘Brighter!’”

Worship Song – Brighter

Worship Song – Wake

Dismissal To eGroups

“Great job, Motion! Everybody stay standing because it’s time for us to head back to our eGroups. When I call your eGroup leaders’ name, you can follow them back.”

(dismiss kids back to eGroups)

I’m Internet Famous!

“Welcome back, Motion! I know you had a great time in eGroup, and now it’s time for us to continue the fun with a little game I like to call, ‘I’m Internet Famous!’ In jTV, Jay is trying to become an internet LiveStreaming star, but there are plenty of people out there who have already become internet famous, for better or for worse.

Each week of jTV I’m going to show you a picture of one person who is internet famous. Then, I’m going to ask you a question about why this person is internet famous. To answer the question, you’ll simply move from one side of the room to the other based on your answer.

Once we determine why this person is famous, I’ll show you a clip of what this person did to become famous. Then, I’ll pause the clip and ask you to determine what happens next in the clip.

Take a look at the screen and check out this goofy looking kid.

(refer to the slide on the screen)

His name is Red Gerard and now you’ll need to decide what he got famous for. If you think he’s famous for being the world’s best pizza flipper, you’ll head to my right. If you think he’s a famous snowboarder, you’ll move to my left. Everyone make a choice now!

(wait for kids to choose a side of the room)

Ok, the correct answer is he’s a famous snowboarder! If you got that right, great job! Now, take a look at the screen and let’s see what he’s famous for.

(watch the video)

Ok, now that the video’s paused, you’ve got to decide what happens next. If you think he’s going to have a major fail, move to this side. If you think he’s going to get a perfect score, move to this side. Choose now!

(have kids choose their sides)

Let’s watch the rest of the clip!

(watch the rest of the video)

If you guessed he was going to get a perfect score, you’re right!

(refer to the slide on the screen)

Red Gerard’s gold medal winning snowboarding run has been watched over two million times on the internet! I’d say this guy has gotten pretty internet famous! Great job everybody! You can all have a seat as we welcome another group of famous people, our VIPs!”

“I wanted to take a moment and welcome our VIPs who are here with us for the first time today! Motion, help me welcome our VIPs!

(initiate applause)

If it’s your first time here, we consider you a VIP – a very important person! VIPs, turn your attention to the screen because I’ve got some special instructions just for you.

(refer to the screen)

This is a VIP lanyard. If you’re a VIP, you’re wearing this around your neck right now.

[VIP Slide – Lanyard]

When you leave Motion, you need to take that lanyard to the __________ tent called the Welcome Area.

[VIP Slide – Welcome Area]

Once you get to the Welcome Area, show them your lanyard and they will give you a gift!

[VIP Slide – Gift]

Let’s review.

[VIP Slide – All Combined]

VIP Lanyard + Welcome Area = Gift.

If you have any questions about where to go or what to do, just ask someone in a blue eKidz shirt and we’ll be more than happy to help you out!”

“Now Motion, it’s time for the Bring It! Challenge!

During this month’s Bring It! Challenge, you’ll need to do the following three things to receive a prize. Check out the screen.

(watch the Bring It! Challenge video)

That’s right, Motion! To receive your Bring It! prize, you’ll need to:

FIND Ephesians 4:32 in your Bible and show it to your eGroup leader.

RECITE the verse for this series, Ephesians 4:32, from memory.

SAY our virtue for this series from memory. In fact, that’s on the screen now, too!

(say the virtue again with the kids)

Forgiveness: Showing love to someone who has hurt you.

Ok, so let’s recap. To earn your prize, you’ll need to FIND this month’s verse, RECITE the verse to your eGroup leader, and SAY the virtue for this month. Take a look at the screen and you can see the prizes now!

(refer to the prize slide)

Circle around your eGroup leaders and let’s complete the Bring It! Challenge!”

Bring It! Challenge

GAME SETUP – Smash That Like Button

“Great job during the Bring It! Challenge, Motion! Make sure you’re bringing your Bible and studying your memory verse so you can earn those Bring It! Challenge prizes! Now, it’s time for us to play today’s game!

Today’s game is all about helping Jay get a few more followers on his LiveStream by smashing the ‘Like’ button as fast as we can! This is going to be our ‘Like’ button…

(hold up a clicker tracker)

And each member of your Game Group will try to smash that ‘Like’ button 10 times before you pass it to the next person to your right. The first team to have all members of their Game Group to hit the “Like” button 10 times wins the round.

Now here’s catch: at any point I could yell ‘GO BACK!’ and then you’ll need to pass the “Like” button backwards one person and that person will need to hit the button another 10 times before your Group can continue.

I want everyone to form your Game Groups, or groups of 10 kids, and then your Group needs to form a circle. After you do that, then we’ll hand out the “Like” buttons. Do that now!

(wait for kids to form Game Groups and Groups to arrange themselves in circles. In this game, it is VERY important that you keep Game Groups to only 10 kids, as adding additional kids to a Game Group puts them at a major disadvantage.)

Ok, let’s begin playing ‘Smash That Like Button!’”

Dismissal Movie Intro
