Kid Connect


WHAT YOU NEED: giant game board, Christmas game pieces (16), game cards (32), die (1), green cards (12), yellow cards (12)


  • Start by introducing yourself and welcoming kids to your eGroup. Ask them about their week and interests. Use the following questions to generate discussion:
  • What’s something cool that happened this week?
  • What was the best part of your week?
  • Have you ________ (seen/eaten/listened to/read) any good _________ (movies/TV shows/food/music/books) lately?
  • What are you looking forward to next week?

Once you have five to six kids begin “The Big Race.”

  • Spread the giant game board across the center of the eGroup space. Give each kid a Christmas game piece and tell them to place their game piece on any one of the starting spaces (a space with a Motion gear on it).
  • Shuffle the game cards. Give one game card to each kid.
  • Kids may not switch starting spaces after game cards have been given.
  • Explain the game cards feature something they might see around Elevation. Kids will race to get to the spot on the game board showing the same Elevation icon as the one on their game card. The first kid to reach the space with their Elevation icon wins!
  • Roll the die. All kids will move that many spaces on the game board from their starting space toward the Elevation icon shown on their game card.
  • Kids may move horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
  • Kids may only enter an icon space through the semi-circle entry points. Kids are allowed to use one move to enter an icon space through one door and another move to exit the icon space through the other door.
  • If kids land on a green space, they can choose if they want to take a green card. Green cards could be a bonus for themselves OR a bonus for another player.
  • If kids land on a yellow space, they can choose if they want to take a yellow card. Yellow cards could be a bonus for themselves OR a penalty for themselves.
  • Repeat until one kid reaches the icon shown on their game card. This kid is the winner!
  • Play again if time allows.

WHAT YOU NEED: Bible story card (1), concentration cards (16), question card (1)


“Welcome to eGroup! My name is _______ and I’m your eGroup leader! As an eGroup we will hang out together during Motion, hear stories from the Bible, learn what it means to live for Jesus, and play games!

We’re in series called The Big Give where we’re learning about being generous. Let’s dig into God’s Word together now and read about how the Bible says to be rich in generosity.”


  • Have kids sit in a circle with their Bibles and instruct kids to turn to   1 Timothy 6:18. NOTE: This may take time, but it helps kids learn skills for reading the Bible on their own. If needed, encourage kids to use the table of contents in their Bible and then decide if the book is in the Old or New Testament.
  • Read 1 Timothy 6:18 aloud from an NIV Bible, then use the Bible story card to read the verse aloud from other versions. Explain to kids these are all the same verse, but they use different words to explain the same meaning.
  • Divide the group into four teams.
  • While laying out the concentration cards face-down in a 4×4 grid on the floor, explain kids will have to find the answers to Bible story questions on the concentration cards.
  • After hearing a question, teams will take turns turning over one concentration card and reading it aloud to the group.
  • If the card they turn over answers the question correctly, they can keep the card. If not, they will turn it back face-down in the same place they found it.
  • Remind kids to pay close attention to the cards other teams turn over so they can remember where those answers are later when they need them!
  • Read the first question aloud. Tell the first team to turn over one of the concentration cards and read the answer aloud. If it answers the question correctly, the team can keep it. If it doesn’t, they should put it back where they found it and let the next team turn over a concentration card. Repeat until the correct answer is found.
  • Repeat for each of the remaining questions. The team with the most cards after all questions have been answered wins!


“Being generous is not trying to get everyone the fanciest gift. It’s about following God’s instruction to love one another. He asks us to be rich in doing good things for others. You could do your siblings chores or let someone ahead of you in line. When you are generous you can look for creative ways to give!”

WHAT YOU NEED: activity cards (12), gift bag (1)


    • Place the activity cards in the gift bag.
    • Pass around the gift bag and have kids choose an activity card from the bag without looking.
    • When each kid has picked something, go around the eGroup and engage kids in a conversation about the items chosen and how they could be used to help others.
      • Example: A marker could be used to draw someone a picture or write them a nice note.
      • Example: A bottle of water or shampoo could be given to a homeless person to stay hydrated or feel clean.
      • Example: A bookmark could be used in a book that’s read to a little kid or an elderly person.


“The items in these bags are pretty simple, and you probably see them around your house and don’t think much of them. But if you look for creative ways to give, you can use just about anything to bless someone else. You can give by helping others, you can give by spending time with others, and you can give by using your talents for others. God has given you so many ways you can give. Looking for creative ways to give shows us how to help others and show them God’s love just as He tells us to do in 1 Timothy 6:18.”

  • According to God, in 1 Timothy 6:18, what makes a person rich?
  • What are ways you can be generous?
  • What gets in the way of being generous?
  • If you don’t have a way to buy things for others, can you still be generous? How?


WHAT YOU NEED: eKidz Prayer Journal (or eKidz Prayer Journal page), pen


“Today we learned to look for creative ways to give. When you choose to seek out opportunities to be generous, you can see God do great things through you!

I want you to share one creative way you will give this week. I’m going to write your name and what you share in our eKidz Prayer Journal. This week I will pray that God will help you as you are generous!”


Write down what kids share in your eKidz Prayer Journal. Take your eKidz Prayer Journal home with you and pray for your kids throughout the week.


“God, today we talked about how You want us to be rich. Not rich in money and stuff we own, but rich in doing good things for You. Give us eyes to see opportunities to be generous and hearts that are willing to share what we have. We need Your help to think of creative ways to give. Thank You for the wonderful gift You gave us when You sent Your Son Jesus. Remind us to focus on Jesus, on loving You, and loving others. We love You. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

WHAT YOU NEED: Bibles, Bible tool kits, verse cards (4 sets of 20), verse mats (4), command card (1), clothespins (20), gift bows (4)


“Our Bible verse, 1 Timothy 6:18, tells us we should be generous in the way we act and give to others. We serve a generous God, and it gives Him joy when we choose to be generous toward others!”


  • Read the verse out loud: “Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.” 1 Timothy 6:18
  • Help kids look up the memory verse in their Bibles. Encourage them to use tools from the Bible tool kit to mark the verse in their Bible. Tell kids who didn’t bring a Bible they will receive a memory verse card during the Bring It! Challenge so they can practice it at home.
  • Ask kids if there are any words or phrases they don’t understand and explain them as needed.
  • Choose a memory verse activity: “Put a Bow on It” or “Verse Practice.”


  • Split kids into four teams.
  • Give each team a verse mat. Explain kids will compete to be the first team to clip all five bows on their mat.
  • Give each team a set of word cards, face down, and tell teams to shuffle their word cards well. Once all teams are done shuffling, tell teams to turn their cards over and put them in order on the verse mat as fast as they can.
  • Use clothespins to clip over two bows on the fastest team’s verse mat.
  • Give each team a gift bow.
  • Read the instructions on the command card one at a time, encouraging kids to put a bow on the word you describe. Use a clothespin to clip over one bow on their verse mat each time a team finishes the task first.
  • The first team to get all five bows clipped wins!


  • Use the following methods to help kids practice the memory verse:
    • REPEAT AFTER ME: Have kids repeat phrases of the verse after you.
    • PAIR UP: Have kids pair up to practice the verse together.
    • MOTIONS: Come up with motions to represent phrases in the verse. Practice it together.
