Motion Large Group Week of April 21

Road Trip

Virtue: Patience: Waiting until later for what you want now.
Main Point:When you think you can’t wait, think about what’s true.
Bible Story: Golden Calf
Bible Passage: Exodus 32:1-35
Memory Verse: “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14, NIV

“Welcome to Motion and welcome to our series called Road Trip, where we’re learning that, just like any fun car ride, the real prize may be the journey getting there, not the destination itself. That’s why it’s so important for us to learn about patience and how we trust God, even when it may take a while to get where we’re going. But what is patience? Let’s take a look at the screen and find out!
Patience: Waiting until later for what you want now.

In your eGroups you heard a story about some people who waited a long time to hear from God and while waiting, made some pretty bad decisions that had equally bad consequences. Can we learn from the mistakes that other people have made? I hope so! Let’s find out in this week’s Bible Story video!”

Connect Questions Intro

“When you think you can’t wait for something, you need to think back to what you know is true. We should remember all of the times God has helped us before. Knowing that will make the wait much easier to handle!

Now, it’s time for us to answer a few questions about today’s Bible story and the video we just watched. Circle around your eGroup leaders now!

First question: How did the Israelites in today’s Bible story show impatience? Discuss that now.

(give kids one minute to answer the question)

Next question: Think of a time you were waiting for something and did something you shouldn’t have. What happened? Discuss that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Last question: God promises He’ll always be with you. How does knowing this make it easier to wait for something big? Discuss that now.”

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Worship Intro

“Wow, you really had some great answers today, Motion! Great job! Now, it’s time for us to stand to our feet

(motion for kids to stand up)

Dismissal To eGroups

“Great job, Motion! Everybody stay standing because it’s time for us to head back to our eGroups. When I call your eGroup leaders’ name, you can follow them back.”

(dismiss kids back to eGroups)

VIP Welcome

“Welcome back! I know you had an awesome time in your eGroups! Before we continue, I wanted to welcome our VIPs who are here with us for the first time today! Motion, help me welcome our VIPs!

(initiate applause)

If it’s your first time here, we consider you a VIP – a very important person! VIPs, turn your attention to the screen because I’ve got some special instructions just for you.

(refer to the screen)

This is a VIP lanyard. If you’re a VIP, you’re wearing this around your neck right now.

[VIP Slide – Lanyard]

When you leave Motion, you need to take that lanyard to the __________ tent called the Welcome Area.

[VIP Slide – Welcome Area]

Once you get to the Welcome Area, show them your lanyard and they will give you a gift!

[VIP Slide – Gift]

Let’s review.

[VIP Slide – All Combined]

VIP Lanyard + Welcome Area = Gift.

If you have any questions about where to go or what to do, just ask someone in a blue eKidz shirt and we’ll be more than happy to help you out!”

“Now Motion, it’s time for the Bring It! Challenge!

During this month’s Bring It! Challenge, you’ll need to do the following three things to receive a prize. Check out the screen.

(watch the Bring It! Challenge video)

That’s right, Motion! To receive your Bring It! prize, you’ll need to:

FIND Psalm 27:14 in your Bible and show it to your eGroup leader.

RECITE the verse for this series, Psalm 27:14, from memory.

SAY our virtue for this series from memory. In fact, that’s on the screen now, too!

(say the virtue again with the kids)

Patience: Waiting until later for what you want now.
Ok, so let’s recap. To earn your prize, you’ll need to FIND this month’s verse, RECITE the verse to your eGroup leader, and SAY the virtue for this month. Take a look at the screen and you can see the prizes now!

(refer to the prize slide)

Circle around your eGroup leaders and let’s complete the Bring It! Challenge!”

Game Setup – Would You Rather

“Great job during the Bring It! Challenge, Motion! Keep working on memorizing your memory verse and series virtue and come back next week for your last chance to earn your Bring it! Challenge prize for this month!

Now, Motion, it’s time for today’s Road Trip game, and this one is pretty classic. It’s called ‘Would You Rather’ and it’s for SURE one of the funniest games I’ve ever played.

Here’s how you play: I’m going to say ‘Would you rather…’ and then I’m going to put two choices on the screen. You’ll need to decide which of the two options you would rather do. It sounds SOOOOO simple, right? Well you better be prepared to actually do whichever option you choose because I’m going to call on one of the sides of the room to do the action you chose!

I want everyone to stand to their feet and let’s get ready to choose sides in ‘Would You Rather?’”
