Welcome / Intro

“Welcome to Motion and welcome to our brand new series called Put A Bow On It! Throughout this series we’ll be learning about joy as we countdown to the most joyous occasion of all time – Christmas! Since Christmas will be here before you know it, I want to test your knowledge to find out how much you know about the best time of the year. I want everyone to circle around your eGroup leaders as I try to find out which of you knows the most about this important day. Take 10 seconds and circle around your leaders now.

(give kids time to circle around their eGroup leaders)

Ok eGroup leaders – I’ll ask a question and when your eGroup decides on the answer, you need to stand to your feet. When you stand up, you’ll hold up the number of fingers of the answer you want to choose and if you get it right, your team will earn 100 points. The eGroup that has the most points after 10 questions wins the game.

Here’s the first question:

(question slides will be on the screen)

Great job, everybody! Congratulations to the _______ team coming out with the yuletide victory in our Christmas Trivia game. Now Motion, Christmas time is quickly approaching and I’ve invited a friend to come spread some joy. Check out the screen!”

Connect Questions / Dismissal to eGroups

“We should have the same attitude that David did. When things are good, or when things are tough, we should always honor God with our words and actions. Instead of worrying about what other people will think, we should point to God and give Him credit for everything He’s done. We can help others see we can trust God no matter what.

God is worthy of ALL of our honor. He loves us. He walks with us through everything we might face in life. He’s given us His Son Jesus so that we can choose to believe and follow Him. Every day, we should thank God and honor Him by giving Him the credit He deserves.

Now Motion, it’s time for us to circle around our eGroup leaders to answer a few questions. Do that now.

(give kids time to circle around eGroup leaders)

“God promised He would make Abraham’s family into a great nation, and He did. God promised He would rescue the people from slavery, and He did. God promised that He would save us and He did through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son Jesus. We know God has already come through for us by sending Jesus, so even when things aren’t going our way, we can have joy.

In fact, that brings us to today’s main point. Say it with me:

I can have joy because God keeps His promises.

(Refer to the main point slide on the screen and have kids say the main point with you. Have them repeat it if necessary.)

Now Motion, it’s time for us to circle around our eGroup leaders to answer a few questions. Do that now.

(give kids time to circle around eGroup leaders)

First question: What promises did God make to Isaiah? Discuss that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Second question: Why is it so important for you to keep your promises to others? Discuss that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Now Motion, our final question is our ‘See What God Can Do Through You’ question which his all about who you can use today’s Bible story to show God’s love to the people around you. Today’s question is: How does Christmas make it easier to talk about Jesus? How can you share God’s promises about Jesus with others? Discuss those questions now.”

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Worship Intro

“Great job, everybody! I heard some incredible answers coming from your eGroups today.

During our Christmas series, we’ll get the opportunity to sing some awesome Christmas music that tells of how God fulfilled His promise to send His Son to bring joy and peace to Earth – the same same Son who would defeat death and bring life and love to the world. Stand to your feet and let’s sing ‘Undefeated!’”

Worship Song – Undefeated

Worship Song – Joy To The World

Dismissal To eGroups

“Great job, Motion! Everybody stay standing because it’s time for us to head back to our eGroups. When I call your eGroup leaders’ name, you can stand up and follow them back.”

(dismiss kids back to eGroups)

VIP Welcome

“Welcome back from your eGroups! Before we dive back in to Fear Inc., let’s take a moment and welcome a special group of people who are here for the first time today. Motion, help me welcome our VIPs!

(initiate applause)

If it’s your first time here, we consider you a VIP – a very important person! VIPs, turn your attention to the screen because I’ve got some special instructions just for you.

(refer to the screen)

This is a VIP lanyard. If you’re a VIP, you’re wearing this around your neck right now.

Bring It! Challenge Setup

Game Setup – Stick A Bow To It

“Motion, I’m so excited for our Christmas series called Put a Bow On It, but I’m also excited because our favorite mystery solving team, The Finders, has decided to start their own YouTube channel that’s all about the team having fun and playing games. They just dropped their first exciting videos and we’re going to have the opportunity to play one of the best ones. Check out the screen!

(watch the Finders Game Video)

That’s right, Motion! Today we’re going to play a game where your Game Group will need to toss objects at someone in your Game Group’s face which will be covered in shaving cream. Now I mentioned game groups earlier and you may be wondering what a game group is! A game group is a group of no more than 10 kids who will be playing the game together. That means you’ll have more opportunities to play the games each week in Motion, which means way more fun for everybody.

Now for today’s game, we’ll need one kid from each Game Group to stand in front of their team as your Game Group throws 10 Christmas bows at you. The Game Group that has the most Christmas bows stuck to their teammates’ face after 10 throws wins the round and the team that wins the most rounds wins the game.

Let’s go ahead and choose one person from each Game Group to put on their safety equipment and shaving cream and we’ll get started with today’s game!”

In other exciting news, in just two weeks Motion will be holding it’s first ever Ugly Sweater party! We’re inviting you and your friends to come to Motion dressed in your goofiest, craziest, or ugliest Christmas outfits. If you’re sitting there saying ‘But I don’t have anything to wear!’ then don’t worry! Today we’re sending you home with invitations to our party as well as instructions on how you can design your own awful looking Christmas attire for our big party. On the way out the door, you’ll receive this handout explaining all about our Ugly Sweater Christmas party along with some helpful advice on how to create an outfit so ugly even The Grinch wouldn’t wear it.”
