Welcome / Video Intro

“Welcome to Motion and welcome to the second week of our series Brain Games. All throughout this series we’ll be learning about Knowledge. What’s knowledge? Take and look at the screen and we’ll say it together!

Knowledge: Learning something new so you can be better at whatever you do.

Last week we met Austin, the newest hire at our local game store, learned that he’s got all kinds of knowledge about games. Will that knowledge help him out this week as he tackles some problems? Let’s find out! Check out the screen.”

Connect Questions

“Just like Jesus, we are never too young to work hard at learning what God says! God is the source of all knowledge, and as we better understand His Word, the better off we will be!

Now Motion, it’s time for us to circle around our eGroup leaders to answer a few questions to see how much you learned from the video! Do that now.

(give kids time to circle around eGroup leaders)

First question: Why did Jesus stay in the temple? What was he doing? Discuss that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Second question: What’s your favorite Bible story? Why is it your favorite? Discuss that now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Now Motion, our final question is our ‘See What God Can Do Through You’ question which is all about how you can use today’s Bible story to show God’s love to the people around you. Today’s question is: Who can you share your favorite Bible story with? When can you do it? Discuss that question now.”

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Worship Intro

“Great job, everybody! I heard some incredible answers coming from your eGroups today.

Now, I want everybody to stand to their feet

(encourage kids to stand)

as we thank God for bringing us together on this amazing day. Let’s start by singing ‘Endless Praise.’”

Worship Song – Endless Praise

Worship Song – Undefeated

Dismissal To eGroups

“Great job, Motion! Everybody stay standing because it’s time for us to head back to our eGroups. When I call your eGroup leaders’ name, you can follow them back.”

(dismiss kids back to eGroups)

VIP Welcome

“Welcome back from your eGroups! Before we continue, I wanted to take a moment and welcome some very special guests who came to visit us for the first time. Motion, help me welcome our VIPs!

(initiate applause)

If it’s your first time here, we consider you a VIP – a very important person! VIPs, turn your attention to the screen because I’ve got some special instructions just for you.

(refer to the screen)

This is a VIP lanyard. If you’re a VIP, you’re wearing this around your neck right now.

[VIP Slide – Lanyard]

When you leave Motion, you need to take that lanyard to the orange tent called the Welcome Area.

[VIP Slide – Welcome Area]

Once you get to the Welcome Area, show them your lanyard and they will give you a gift!

[VIP Slide – Gift]

Let’s review.

Game Setup – Listen Up!

“As you can see by the image on the screen, we’re in a series called Brain Games and last week we did a couple of puzzles and riddles to help determine our Brain Age. The result was that as a group, you al are some of the sharpest, quickest kids I’ve ever met. Now because you all did so well, I told you that I was going to make things more difficult, so today we’re going to play a game that’s going to test how well you can hear and react WITHOUT being able to see. Here’s how the game works:

In just a moment you’ll divide into game groups, or groups of about 10 kids. You’ll sit on the floor in a circle (this is very important) and when you do, I’m going to hand a ball to one person in the group. Now this ball is special because it has a bell inside that will jingle as it’s being rolled. Everybody in the group will close their eyes and when you hear the music begin to play softly, the group will start rolling the ball on the ground back and forth. When I yell ‘Freeze!’ the last kid to have touched the ball is out and needs to step outside the group. Now if you get out, you’ve got a pretty fun job – your new mission to to make jingle noises and to try and fool the kids in your game group into thinking the ball is coming their way.

We’ll continue to play the game as long as we can and see who’s got the best reaction time in the group.

Now, one quick note – I know this game might get a little competitive, but you need to make sure you’re not cheating by opening your eyes. This game is supposed to test your reflexes and your ability to respond to a challenge quickly. If I or your eGroup leader catch you opening your eyes, you’ll just sit out for the rest of the game. Got it?

(wait for kids to verbally respond)

Now, find a game group, form a circle and have a seat because we’re about to play ‘Listen Up!’

(give kids time to play)

Great job, Motion! Today’s game was all about helping you hone your sensory skills, through testing your reflexes and attention to your surroundings. Make sure you’re here for next week’s game as we put your memory to the test!”

Bring It! Challenge Setup

(collect all game materials and make sure eGroup leaders have supplies to complete the Bring It! Challenge)

“During this month’s Bring It! Challenge, you’ll need to do the following three things to stretch your brain and receive a prize:

1. Say our memory verse for this series, Psalm 119:105. In fact, let’s say it together right now!

(refer to the verse on the screen and have the kids say it with you)

2. Show Psalm 119:105 in your Bible to your eGroup leader.

3. Say our virtue for this series. In fact, that’s on the screen now, too! Say it with me!

(refer to the virtue slide on the screen)

Ok, so let’s recap. To earn your prize, you’ll need to say this month’s verse, find it in your Bible, and repeat this month’s virtue. Circle around your eGroup leaders and let’s work on that now!”
