“Welcome to Motion and welcome to our series Up In The Air! This month we’re going to learn all about honesty anyhow we can make stay honest, even in the face of a big decision that has consequences. It’s not easy, but I think we’re going to learn that we can choose truth instead of heading for a crash-landing. Now, it’s time for us to take a look at our virtue for this series: honesty. Take a look at the screen and say this with me:

Honesty: Choosing to be truthful in whatever you say and do.

Motion, we’re getting ready to meet Maya, a young girl who’s been jumping around from school to school, never feeling like she fit in. We’ll watch as Maya makes major decisions that not only affect her life, but also the lives of those closest to her. Let’s find out what happens in the first episode of Up In The Air! Check out the screen!”

Worship Intro

“Motion, you had some great answers today! It’s so important for us to show honesty to others. More importantly though, is to be honest with God. One way we can honestly share our feelings towards God is through worship and singing about his great love. Stand to your feet and let’s sing, ‘Love Won’t let Me Down!’”

To Tell The Truth

“Welcome back, Motion! I know you had a great time in eGroup, and now it’s time for us to continue the fun with a little game I like to call, ‘To Tell The Truth!’ Maya’s not just the only amazing pilot around here —in fact, there have been tons of famous pilots all throughout history! During this game, you’ll need to decide if the information I tell you about a famous pilot is true or false. Then, you’ll move to one side of the room or the other depending on your answer.

Ok, let’s take a look at our first famous pilot. This is James H. Doolittle, or Jimmy Doolittle.

(refer to the first game slide)

This guys is a real hero, and everything started when James was just 15 years old. When James was 15 years old, he built his first air glider and jumped off a cliff. Now, the first thing you’ll need to decide is True or False is this statement: James Doolittle’s first and second flights were both wrecks. True or false? Choose now.

(give kids 30 seconds to choose one side or the other)

If you guessed the answer was true, good job! You’re right! Ok, next question:

(refer to the second game slide)

80 years ago, James Doolittle set the record for going faster than any other man alive a the time. True or False? Choose now.

(give kids 30 seconds to choose one side or the other)

If you guessed the answer was true, good job! You’re right! Ok, next question:

Ok, last question:

(refer to the third game slide)

After getting shot down over China in World War 2, James Doolittle earned a Purple Heart award. Choose now.

(give kids 30 seconds to choose one side or the other)

Nice job! If you guessed that this answer was false, you’re correct! James Doolittle actually earned the Congressional Medal of Honor – the highest award any American can ever earn. How cool is that?

Great job, everybody! You did such a good job in today’s trivia game! Make sure you’re here next week as we investigate the mystery of another famous pilot, Amelia Earhart and the mystery surrounding her disappearance!”

“I wanted to take a moment and welcome our VIPs who are here with us for the first time today! Motion, help me welcome our VIPs!

(initiate applause)

“Now Motion, it’s time for the Bring It! Challenge!

During this month’s Bring It! Challenge, you’ll need to do any of the following three things to receive a prize. Check out the screen.

(watch the Bring It! Challenge video)

That’s right, Motion! To receive your Bring It! prize, you’ll need to any of the following:

FIND Proverbs 12:22 in your Bible and show it to your eGroup leader.

RECITE the verse for this series, Proverbs 12:22, from memory.

SAY our virtue for this series from memory. In fact, that’s on the screen now, too!

(say the virtue again with the kids)

Honesty: Choosing to be truthful in whatever you say and do.
Ok, so let’s recap. To earn prize tickets and to earn a better chance to receiving our grand prize at the end of this series, which is an awesome drone, just like the one Maya operates, you’ll need to complete the different parts of the Bring It! Challenge. For every part of the Bring It! Challenge you complete, you’ll earn another prize ticket and there tickets you earn, the better chance you have to win an awesome drone or a giant piece of candy!

(refer to the prize slide)

Circle around your eGroup leaders and let’s complete the Bring It! Challenge!”

Bring It! Challenge

GAME SETUP – Drone Dash

“Great job during the Bring It! Challenge, Motion! Make sure you’re completing parts of the Bring It! Challenge to earn your chance at winning a drone!

“Now Motion, it’s time for today’s game! In this game you and your group will need to be accurate drone pilots as you’re going to send your little drone towards the target on the ground a few feet in front of you. Your game group will toss one bean bag each towards the target and the game group that gets the most bean bags on the target or inside of the hole wins the game.

If you get a drone on the target, you’ll earn one point. If you get a drone inside the hole, you’ll earn three points. The game group with the most points at the end of the round wins that round.

In just a moment, you’ll divide into game groups. Remember, game groups are groups of 10 kids, no more! We want to make sure all of you have a chance to play!

Divide into game groups now.”

(divide kids into game groups, hand out supplies, and organize Game Groups into lines)
