Welcome / Intro

PRONUNCIATION: Ack-ro-phobia

Welcome to Motion for another week of Fear Inc.! I’m so excited you’re all here today as we learn how to gain courage in a series all about facing your fears. Speaking of facing your fears, the fear I want to talk about today is called acrophobia – a fear of heights. Now I’m not really afraid of heights, it’s more like I’m just scared of falling from them, unlike the people in the video I’m about to show you. Check this out!”

(refer to the acrophobia video)

Well Motion, if that video made your knees weak and you spent most of the video watching through your fingers, I’m afraid you may have acrophobia. But Don’t worry! We can still be afraid, but have the courage to know that you can take the next step, even when things seem impossible, just like some of the jumps in the video we just watched.

Now Motion, it’s time for us to learn how to take the next steps to overcome our fear, so put your hands together for today’s episode of Fear Inc.!”

252 Story

Connect Questions / Dismissal to eGroups

“Absolutely none of it seemed possible, and every bit of it was terrifying. But the Israelites could have courage because they could trust God no matter what.

The same God that had rescued them from the hand of Pharaoh would rescue them once again and do seemingly impossible things. It’s like our main point for today:

(refer to the screen)

“You can take the next step, even when things seem impossible.

Before you head back to your eGroups, I want you to circle around your eGroup leaders because I’ve got a few questions I want you to answer. Take 10 seconds and circle around them now.

(give kids time to circle around eGroup leaders)

First question: Do you think the Israelites were afraid during this story? What would make them afraid? Discuss that questions now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Second question: Have you ever doubted that God would be with you during something difficult or something that seems impossible? Discuss that question now.

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Final question and it’s today’s ‘See what God Can Do Through You’ question: Can you show other people how to be courageous? How could you use this story to help them over come their fear? Discuss that now.”

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Worship Intro

“Great job, everybody! I heard some incredible answer coming from your eGroups today.

Right now it’s time for us to go to God in worship and thank Him for what He’s done. The Bible is filled with amazing promises, and one of those is that God is for us. Every single day we can hold on to that truth. Let’s sing and celebrate that God is on our side. Stand to your feet as we sing ‘Endless Praise!’”

Game Setup – Achluophobia

PRONUNCIATION: Ack-lu-o-phobia

“Throughout Fear Inc., you’ve been learning all about different kinds of phobias – or fears – that some people have. Today we’ll be taking the next steps to help you overcome the fear of the dark in today’s game called ‘Achluophobia’

Each kid in here should have received glow sticks and fun glow objects on the way in the door. Each kid will put on all of their glow gear and then we’ll dim the lights. Once we do that, you’ll hear some awesome dance music start pumping. When you do, you’ll start dancing and jumping around UNTIL the music beat drops. When that happens, everybody in the theater must freeze right where they’re standing. I’ll be looking out into the crowd and if I see anybody moving while the theater is silent, that kid is out and will have to go sit at the back of the room.

Everybody stand up, spread out, and make sure your glow gear is on and ready for action. Let’s get ready to fight our fear of the dark!”

252 Movie Intro

“Motion, today we learned that God was able to save the Israelites through what seemed like an impossible situation. That brings us to today’s main point – take a look on the screen and say it with me!

You can take the next step even when things seem impossible.

Even when it looks like the odds are stacked against us, we can trust that God is with us and He’ll always give us courage.

Speaking of courage, I wonder what it must have looked like for the Israelites who were on the ground when this amazing miracle happened. Check out the screen!”
