Welcome / Intro

“Welcome back, everyone, to Motion – the greatest show on earth! I am your ringmaster,   your name   , and I am excited to be here with you today as we dare to walk the high wire and put our trust in God!

Last week, we took a look at the beginning of Joseph’s story and how his family didn’t always get along. When we last left Joseph, his family was having some major problems and Joseph’s 11 brothers had thrown him into a well. How is Joseph supposed to trust his family again after this, and how will Joseph ever trust that God has a plan for his life? Let’s find out today as we hop back on the High Wire!”

Connect Questions / Dismissal to eGroups

“What a tough moment for Joseph. Even though he had been shown kindness in prison, he was still a prisoner. And when it looked like he would finally get out, he was completely forgotten and left alone. Joseph must have been really confused. In spite of all of that, Joseph had gotten pretty great at trusting God no matter what. God is always at work, even if we can’t see it. And He had been working on Joseph’s behalf already, and He certainly wasn’t done with Joseph yet. Make sure you’re here next week to find out what happened to Joseph next!

Before you head back to your eGroups, I want you to circle around your eGroup leaders because I’ve got a few questions I want you to answer. Take 10 seconds and circle around them now.

(give kids time to circle around eGroup leaders)

First question: How do you think Joseph felt after being falsely accused of doing something wrong by Potiphar’s wife? Discuss that question with your eGroup now!

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Second question: Have you ever been blamed for doing something you didn’t do? How did you feel? Discuss that question with your eGroup now!

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Final question: Did God still protect Joseph even when things were going wrong? Do you think God will protect you when you’re in trouble? Discuss that question with your eGroup now!

(give kids two minutes to answer the question)

Great job, everybody! I heard some incredible answer coming from your eGroups today. Right now it’s time to head back to our eGroups, so when I call your eGroup leaders’ name, you can stand up and follow them back.

(dismiss kids back to eGroups)

VIP Welcome

“Welcome back from your eGroups! Before we dive back in to High Wire, let’s take a moment and welcome a special group of people who are here for the first time today. Motion, help me welcome our VIPs!

(initiate applause)

If it’s your first time here, we consider you a VIP – a very important person! VIPs, turn your attention to the screen because I’ve got some special instructions just for you.

(refer to the screen)

This is a VIP lanyard. If you’re a VIP, you’re wearing this around your neck right now.

When you leave Motion, you need to take that lanyard to the orange tent called the Welcome Area.

Worship Intro

“Now Motion, it’s time for us to sing and worship God. The Bible is filled with amazing promises, and one of those is that God is for us. Every single day we can hold on to that truth. Let’s sing and celebrate that God is on our side. Stand to your feet as we sing ‘Wake!’”

Worship Song – Wake

Worship Song – Grace Like A Wave

Game Setup – Do It With Style!

“Great job, Motion! Everybody can have a seat as we prepare to play today’s game.

(wait for kids to be seated)

One of things every circus perform learns is that audiences aren’t dazzled by performing basic tricks. Audiences of the world demand only the highest quality acts, which means performers have to take their acts to the next level. In today’s game, you’ll be performing two difficult tricks while racing to get back to your team the quickest.

In just a moment we’ll have each eGroup line up at the back of the room and then move people around until we have even amounts of people in them. Then the first person in line will place this beach ball between their legs and begin moving gracefully toward the cone at the other end of the room.

That’s not it though, Motion. You’ll have to perform this amazing act while also balancing on of the circus’ favorite performers on your head! That’s right, Motion. As you move across the room you’ll be wearing Bubbles the monkey on your head and must keep him balanced at all times or else you’ll have to start back over from the beginning!

The first team to send all of their members around the cone at the end of the room and come back seated on the floor wins the round. The team that wins the most rounds wins the game. Let’s line up with our teams behind the starting lines on the floor, then we’ll make sure teams are even before we get started. Stand up now and let’s get ready to ‘Do It With Style!’”

252 Movie Intro

“Great job, Motion! Everybody have a seat.

(wait for kids to be seated)

Motion, today we learned…

(refer to main point slide)

Let’s say it together: When life doesn’t make sense, you can trust God is with you.

It may comfort you to know that God can see things we can’t see. He can see a bigger picture than the small one we are able to see. And He can turn things that seem bad into good things, just like he did in Joseph’s life. God can make the most difficult, most confusing, worst parts of life, and turn them into something magnificent.

You know, I bet it would fun to pretend what Pharaoh’s cupbearer and baker had to say about Joseph and their time in prison. Check out this video!”
