FORGIVENESS: Showing loving to someone who has hurt you.
Series Memory Verse: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)
Main Point: I need to ask for forgiveness.
Bible Story: Forgive Each Other | Ephesians 4:32
Forgiveness is a hard concept to understand and even harder to show in real life. When people hurt us, our first instinct may be to retaliate or reciprocate, but that’s not what God wants for us. We’re told to show kindness and compassion to others, and in doing so, we can experience real life.
This weekend we looked at God’s Word together to see how our memory verse connects with the lessons we learned this month from several different Bible stories. There are so many stories in the Bible about people whose lives were changed for the better once they admitted they’d done something wrong and asked for forgiveness.
Asking for forgiveness helps the other person by showing them you’re sorry for what you’ve done, but it also helps you. It doesn’t always feel easy to ask for forgiveness, but when you choose to do it anyway, God can fill you with His peace, joy, and love!
