Bible Story: John is Born | Luke 1:5-25, 57-80
Main Point: I believe God’s promises!
Memory Verse: Everyone who is (spread arms up and out) a child of God (point to others) has the power (show muscles one at a time) to win. (cheer) – 1 John 5:4 (ERV)
The Goody Goody Gumdrop game has come to life as we learn who Jesus is and how we can be like him. With a shakey-shake-shake of the Game Jar, the dice will help us move along the game board to visit the Lollipop Spot, Sweet Treat Forest, and the best spot of all – Grandma Ginger’s ginger bread house!
Grandma Ginger tells the best Bible stories and in this week’s story she shared about an angel visiting Zechariah and telling him he would have a son with his wife Elizabeth. Zechariah and Elizabeth had no children and were very old, so Zechariah did not believe they would have children in their old age. Because he didn’t believe God, Zechariah was unable to talk until God’s promise came true! Soon, Elizabeth was expecting a baby boy. When the baby was born, Zechariah could talk again and they named their baby John. Zechariah and Elizabeth thanked God for keeping His promise of giving them a baby boy.
My Goody Goody Gumdrops
Each weekend children visit the Goody Goody Gumdrops game they can collect main point gumdrops to add to their Gumdrop Jar poster. These gumdrops will help remind us we WIN when we are a child of God! Children can collect 10 gumdrops and bring their Gumdrop Jar poster back to Quest to receive a Goody Gumdrops sweet treat.
Children can also earn bonus gumdrops during this series. Families are invited to visit the Goody Gumdrop tree at any of our campuses to receive an eKidz at Home gumdrop. Parents should take these gumdrops and do the activity on the back with their child then help glue the gumdrop to their child’s poster.
Memory Verse – 1 John 5:4

Knowing this verse helps us remember how we WIN when we believe in Jesus and obey Him! Help your child practice this verse at home. Then ask them to Remember, Think, and Follow to review what we learned this weekend.
- REMEMBER: Who was the man in the Bible story? (Zechariah)
- THINK: What did God promise to give Zechariah? (a baby boy)
- FOLLOW: If all of God’s promise are true, can we believe them? (Yes!)
