My Neighborhood [1:00]

SLIDE: WCLU Campus Screen Graphic

(Neighbor comes on stage, waving at the children.)

NEIGHBOR: Hello, friends! Welcome back to MY neighborhood. I’m so glad you’re here! My name is _________ (your name) and I love living in this neighborhood. There are so many (make binoculars around eyes) great people and places in this neighborhood and we’ve had such a great time visiting some of my favorite places!

NEIGHBOR: In Wonder! Clubhouse this month we’re going to talk about how God calls us to  love one another just like He loves us. This means we need to love our neighbors and other people close to us. Everyone make a heart shape with your hands, like this!

(Make a heart shape with your hands and allow children to do the same.)

NEIGHBOR: Great! God created us to love and we can use that love to share our lives with our neighbors and worship God together! Today we’re learning, “I can love God and people by showing them!” Repeat that after me:

I can love God (hug self)
(Allow time for children to repeat.)
and people (point out)
(Allow time for children to repeat.)
by showing them! (spread arms wide)
(Allow time for children to repeat.)

NEIGHBOR: Great job, everyone! Now let’s sing this song about how great our God is and worship Him together in our neighborhood!

Song: Love One Another [2:44]

(Neighbor dances around with the children, leading them in the hand motions to the song.)

Memory Verse Review[1:15]

SLIDE: WCLU Campus Screen Graphic

NEIGHBOR: What incredible singers you are! Next weekend in Quest we’re going to have a Praise Party with the whole neighborhood, so make sure you bring your singing voices! Now, everyone turn to your neighbor, give them a wave, and then have a seat!

(Allow children to wave to their neighbors and encourage them to sit down.)

NEIGHBOR: This month we’re going to learn about loving our neighbors. You’re my neighbor. I’m your neighbor. And we can love each other!

NEIGHBOR: The Bible says,

SLIDE: MNEI Memory Verse

Love (hug self)
the Lord your God (point up)
with all your heart. (place both hands over heart)
Love (hug self)
your neighbor (point out)
as yourself. (thumbs to chest)
Matthew 22:37-39 (open hands like a book)

NEIGHBOR: Not only should we love God with our whole heart, but we should love the  people around us, too! We can love our neighbors by using kind words, playing nicely, and showing them love through our actions.

NEIGHBOR: We have been learning this Bible verse so we can remember to love God and love our neighbors! Say it with me, neighbors!

Love (hug self)
the Lord your God (point up)
with all your heart. (place both hands over heart)
Love (hug self)
your neighbor (point out)
as yourself. (thumbs to chest)
Matthew 22:37-39 (open hands like a book)

NEIGHBOR: Way to go! You’ve done a great job learning this verse!

NEIGHBOR: It’s time for us to head to Wonder! Clubhouse to check in with our neighbors. We’re going to have so much fun! Let’s go!

Main Point Review [0:30]

NEIGHBOR: What a great time at Wonder! Clubhouse! Did you have fun with our neighbor, Madi? Because I sure did! Ollie came to visit the Clubhouse and helped us learn,

I can love God (hug self)
and people (point out)
by showing them! (spread arms wide)

NEIGHBOR: We heard a story from Justin the mailman, one of our neighbors! He told us about two of the most important commandments God tells us to do in the Bible. God tells us to love Him and to love people. And we can do that! When we show love to others by sharing toys, playing nicely, or telling someone, “I love you,” we are also showing God we love Him! Repeat what we are learning today after me:

NEIGHBOR: Great job! Now let’s stand up and show God we love Him by singing together!

Remember, Think, Follow [1:30]

SLIDE: MNEI Campus Screen Graphic

NEIGHBOR: What incredible singers you are! I can’t wait to worship God with you next weekend at our Quest Praise Party! Now, everyone high five your neighbor and have a seat!

(Allow children to high five each other and encourage them to sit down.)

NEIGHBOR: Now it’s time for us to remember (hold hands like a book) our Bible story, think (point to head) about the good things from our story, and follow (march in place) the example set by the people in the Bible story.

SLIDE: MNEI Remember WK4

NEIGHBOR: First let’s REMEMBER (hold hands like a book) … What are the two most important commandments?

(Allow time for children to answer – “To love God and love people.”)

NEIGHBOR: You got it!

SLIDE: MNEI Think WK 4

NEIGHBOR: Now, let’s THINK (point to head) about the good things from our Bible story. When I show love to people, who else am I showing love to?

(Allow time for children to answer – “God!”)

NEIGHBOR: Yes, way to go!

SLIDE: MNEI Follow WK 4

NEIGHBOR: Now, let’s say how can we FOLLOW (march in place) the example set in our Bible story. How can we follow these commandments?

(Allow time for children to answer – “We can show love to God and others!”)

NEIGHBOR: That’s right! If you can follow the example in our Bible story and show love to

God and others, turn to your neighbor and give them another high five!

(Allow children to high five a friend.)

DISMSSAL [0:30]

SLIDE: WCLU Campus Screen Graphic

NEIGHBOR: This week remember we can love God and we can love our neighbors by showing them – by using kind words, playing nicely, and telling them we love them! Give me a thumbs up if you’re going to meet me back here at Wonder! Clubhouse next week in Quest.

(Allow children to give a thumbs up.)

NEIGHBOR: Great! (Respond by giving a thumbs up to the children.) Remember, next

weekend we’re having a party in Quest! The entire neighborhood is coming together for a Praise Party as we worship God! And for our party, I want all of my friends to wear one of these special colors to celebrate. (Look towards the screen.)

SLIDE: MNEI Praise Party

NEIGHBOR: (Point to each Quest animal as you reference them.) You can wear pink like Pink Pig, blue like Blue Beaver, yellow like Yellow Yak, or green like Green Gorilla. On the count of three, I want everyone to yell out which color they think they are going to wear next weekend for our Quest Praise Party. Ready? 1…2…3!

(Allow children to yell out which color they are going to yell.)

NEIGHBOR: Wow! I can’t wait to see everyone in their special colors as we praise God next weekend at our Praise Party. See you then, neighbors!
