Weekend Wrap-Up

Monthly Focus: God wants me to obey!
Bible Story: Genesis 6:9-14, 17-22
Weekend Activity: God Wants Me To Obey
We finished this month learning that “God wants be to obey” with a coloring page.  Use the page your child colored as you sing the song Rise and Shine, a song your toddler has been singing all month in eKidz.  As you sing the song, point to different parts of the coloring page (the ark, the different animals, etc).

Rise and Shine
The Lord said to Noah, “There’s gonna be a floody, floody
The Lord said to Noah, “There’s gonna be a floody, floody
Get those children out of the muddy, muddy
Children of the Lord.”

Chorus:
Rise and shine and give God the glory, glory
(raise arms and wave back and forth)
Rise and shine and give God the glory, glory
(raise arms and wave back and forth)
Rise and shine (clap) and give God the glory, glory
Children of the Lord (point to self).

The Lord said to Noah, “Build me an arky, arky
The Lord said to Noah, “Build me an arky, arky
Build it out of gopher barky, barky
Children of the Lord.”
Chorus

The animals they came on, they came on by twosies, twosies
The animals they came on, they came on by twosies, twosies
El-e-phants and kangaroosies, roosies
Children of the Lord.
Chorus

It rained and poured for 40 long daysies, daysies
It rained and poured for 40 long daysies, daysies
Nearly drove those animals crazies, crazies
Children of the Lord.
Chorus

The Lord said to Noah, “Send out a dovey, dovey”
The Lord said to Noah, “Send out a dovey, dovey”
Dovey said, “There’s clear skies abovey-bovey”
Children of the Lord.
Chorus

The sun came out and dried up the landy, landy
The sun came out and dried up the landy, landy
Everything was fine and dandy, dandy
Children of the Lord.
Chorus

Bible Story: Luke 22:47-53 and Luke 23:32-35, 44-46
Main Point: The Bible Says Jesus Died For Me!
Memory Verse: “When you look for me with all your heart, you will find me.” – Jeremiah 29:13
Lesson Overview:  ARRGH! This past weekend in Quest, kids learned “The Bible Says Jesus Died For Me!” as they heard the Bible story of Jesus being arrested and crucified. Our pirates discovered that Jesus’ friend Judas betrayed Him, Jesus carried a big wooden cross on his back to a place named “The Skull”, and Jesus died to save everyone from the wrong things they do.

Pirates also earned another treasure chest for their treasure map!  On the back of the treasure chest is a fun piratey riddle for you and your child to solve together this week. Here is this week’s riddle – good luck discovering the answer!

I SIT ON A SHIP, BUT I DON’T MAKE IT SINK.
WHEN I HIT METAL, IT MAKES A CLINK.
WHEN I AM FIRED, IT MAKES A GREAT BOOM,
WHEN YOU SEE ME COMING, YOU’D BETTER MAKE ROOM!

The answer to the riddle is a CANNON! See if you can spot the cannon on your child’s Pirates! treasure map.  Once you’ve found the cannon, glue the treasure chest to the map.

One day this week play “Bail Out the Boat” with your family to reinforce what your pirate learned in Quest this past weekend. It’s summertime and hot outside, and this fun water game will surely keep your pirate cool while they play!

BAIL OUT THE BOAT
Split your family in half to create two teams. Each team will need two buckets, a small cup, and water. Fill one bucket with water and place it on one side of the yard, and place the empty bucket on the opposite side of the yard, across from the bucket filled with water.

When someone says “Go!”, teams will race, one player at a time, to transfer all the water from the filled water bucket to the empty bucket.  Players may only transfer water from bucket to bucket with the small cup.  Once a player has run to the water bucket, scooped water in the cup, and ran it back to the empty bucket to dump it, the player must say “The Bible Says Jesus Died For Me!” before handing the cup to the next teammate.

The first team to get all of the their water from the water bucket to the empty bucket is the winner! Once that happens, you will have successfully “bailed out” the boat!

Monthly Virtue: Unity – Choosing to work together for the same purpose.
Monthly Bible Verse: I appeal to you, brothers and sisters,in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.   1 Corinthians 1:10
Bible Story: Unity of Early Christians :: Acts 4:32-35
Lesson Overview: During the Forecast: Chance of Rain series we have been learning about UNITY – choosing to work together for the same purpose.  This weekend we focused on having unity with our community.  We looked at Acts 4:32-35 and the unity the early Christians had to tell everyone they could about Jesus!

In this weekend’s movie, Night at the Museum, we see how another community, though not your typical community, chooses to work together.

Check out The Family Forecast to learn more about unity and for activities to complete with your family.   Visit on the blog this Friday for The Family Forecast Family Pack GIVEAWAY – it contains all the materials your family will need to have a family movie night based on next weekend’s movie, Toy Story 3.

WEEKEND RESOURCE:  The Family Forecast – Night at the Museum (Use The Family Forecast as a tool to reinforce at home what your child is learning in Motion.  Each weekend of the Forecast series receive a different Family Forecast movie night guide and plan a movie night for your family based on the movie clips we watched in Motion.)
