Quest :: Week of March 17

Monthly Focus: Who can you follow? (I can follow Jesus.)
Bible Story: Matthew the Tax Collector  ● Matthew 9:9-10
Main Point: Anyone can follow Jesus.
Memory Verse: “‘Come and follow me,’ Jesus said.” Matthew 4:19, NIRV

This month we’ve GONE FISHIN’ to learn about Jesus and how He taught the disciples to be fishers of men. They learned to be fishers of men by following Jesus, and we can follow Jesus, too!

In this week’s lesson, we learned that Jesus tells Matthew the tax collector to follow Him, and he does.

When Jesus lived on Earth, most people didn’t like tax collectors, like Matthew, because the tax collectors took their money and some of them even took more than they should. But Jesus didn’t mind that Matthew was a tax collector. He chose Matthew to follow Him anyway, because anyone can follow Jesus!

March Memory Verse
This month our Bible verse tells us Jesus wants us to follow Him!

Children can recite the verse every week in February to earn a special memory verse card. When your child receives a memory verse card, celebrate with them on learning their verse and put the card on their Quest poster.

“‘Come (motion towards self with hand)
and follow me,’ (march in place)
Jesus said.” (cup hands around mouth)
Matthew 4:19, NIRV (open hands like a book)

Practice this verse together and encourage your child to recite it to their eGroup Leader this week in Quest.
