Monthly Focus: Who can you thank for everything? (I can thank God for everything.)
Bible Story: The Lord’s Prayer ● Matthew 6:9-13
Main Point: I am thankful I can pray.
Memory Verse: “I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart.” Psalm 111:1 (ESV)
God made people, and called them very good. Then God protected his people with rules to keep them safe. God talked to his people when they prayed to Him. God took care of His people and gave them what they needed. Because of all the great things God has done for us, we have a lot to be thankful for.
In this week’s lesson, Jesus teaches us how to pray.
In this prayer, Jesus taught us to do four important things when we pray: thank God, tell God what we need, ask forgiveness for the wrong things we do, and ask God to help us do the right things instead. The very first thing He taught us to do when we pray is to thank God, because God gives us everything!
November Memory Verse
This month our Bible verse tells us we can thank God because He has given us everything!
Children can recite the verse every week in October to earn a special memory verse card. When your child receives a memory verse card celebrate with them on learning their verse and put the card on their Quest poster.
“I will give thanks (thumbs to chest)
to the Lord (point both fingers up)
with my whole heart.” (hands over heart)
Psalm 111:1, ESV (open hands like a book)
Practice this verse together and encourage your child to recite it to their eGroup Leader this week in Quest.
