Series Memory Verse: James 4:17, “If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.”
Main Point: You can stand for what’s right, even when it’s not popular.
Bible Story: The Fiery Furnace, Daniel 3
We headed into the second week of our Star Search series, where Rosie from The Finders is struggling to know where to take a stand for what’s right. Check out episode two here:
Rosie is developing a friendship with Tiffany and her squad, but it seems that a different look isn’t all that Tiffany wants from Rosie. Some of their behavior is starting to conflict with things that Rosie previously believed. Rosie, in an effort to increase her popularity with Tiffany, is struggling with compromising her beliefs.
Popularity is a tricky thing. It can feel very attractive but the pursuit of it is also powerful enough to cause you to do things you never would have considered before. God, however, calls us to stand for what’s right even if it’s not popular. We saw a great example of this in the book of Daniel, where Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego chose not to bow down to the statue of King Nebuchadnezzar, even though it almost cost them their lives. Talk with your family about peer pressures that you feel. Encourage each other to continue standing for what’s right and pray for God’s strength as you choose to do so.
