God Always Has a Plan

I wanted to share a story with you today that means a lot to me personally.  Tyler and Amy Ford and their daughter Lauren Claire are a Core Team family that moved to Charlotte to launch Elevation Church.  They sold their home, quit their jobs and moved to Charlotte because they believed in the vision from God that Pastor Steven cast for the church you’re now part of.  Though they are not on staff, they are still committed to the church as volunteers.  So when I received this email from Amy a few weeks ago I was proud to know that God is using eKidz to reach all kinds of kids – even the ones that are close to me.

Here’s what Amy wrote:

For the last two years, I have been asking Lauren to tell me what she learned at church.  The most I could ever get from her was, “I sing a song and dance”.  I wasn’t disappointed since having a child with a hearing impairment and delayed language doesn’t really allow for an in depth conversation.  But every week, I would quiz her hoping that one time I would hear something more than singing and dancing.

Today, I heard more than the normal response.  Lauren told me that God wanted her to be patient.  I’m not sure you understand the significance of that statement.  I have never taught her that word and I know that it is not on her vocabulary list at school.  She doesn’t practice that word in speech class and I know it wasn’t on a current episode of Yo Gabba Gabba.

I want you to know that hearing impaired children need repetition after repetition before they can use new words properly.  For her to pull that word out of an hour long eKidz experience is nothing short of a miracle.  To make it even more amazing, she knew what it meant to be patient.  She learned it and used it after an hour.  God is at work in eKidz.  It’s no coincidence that I have been waiting for two years for this day to come and when it finally does, she remembers that God wants her to be patient.  Pretty sure He wanted me to be patient, too.

Thank you for not minimizing the importance of pouring into our kids.  There is no doubt that God is using eKidz to reach all kids.

Even the ones that are a little behind the rest…

I hope this story has encouraged you to keep at it as a parent – keep praying for your kids, keep loving your kids, keep bringing them to church.  We are committed to serving you and your family in every way we can but far beyond that God has a plan for your family and we are honored to be part of it!
