Bible Story:  Joshua 6:1-20
Weekend Activity: The Wall

TODDLER 1: Grab The Wall coloring page your child colored this weekend and hold it up so your child can see it.  Point to the people in the picture.  Say,  “Joshua trusted God and marched around the wall.  Because Joshua trusted God and did what God said, the wall came tumbling down!” Pick a time each day and sing the song March Around (below), a song we sing each weekend with your toddler.

TODDLER 2: Grab The Wall craft your child brought home and hold up the side that says “Joshua trusted God and marched around the wall …” and read it to your toddler.  Say, “Because Joshua trusted God and did what God said, (flip wall over to the other side) the wall came tumbling down!” Sing the March Around song with your toddler.

March Around (to the tune “Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho”)

God told Joshua to march around,
March around, march around.
God told Joshua to march around,
And the walls would come tumbling down!

Joshua trusted God and marched around,
Marched around, marched around.
Joshua trusted God and marched around,
And the walls came tumbling down!

God wants me to trust Him too,
Trust Him too, trust Him too!

With things only He can do!

Bible Story: Matthews 28:16-20
Main Point: The Bible Says Jesus is Always With Us!
Memory Verse: “When you look for me with all your heart, you will find me.” – Jeremiah 29:13
Lesson Overview:  AH HOY BUCCANEERS! We had a swashbucklin’ adventure this past weekend in Quest as your pirate learned “The Bible Says Jesus is Always With Us!” We learned that Jesus died for us and went to Heaven to make a home for us. We discovered that God gave Jesus all the power, and that Jesus will always be with us through the Holy Spirit.

Every Quest pirate received their seventh treasure chest this week to put on their Quest treasure map! On the back of this week’s treasure chest is a fun piratey riddle for you and your child to solve together. Here is this week’s riddle:

YOU SEE MY FINS IN THE WATER,
MY HOME IS IN THE SEA.
MY TEETH ARE SO SHARP,
EVEN PIRATES ARE SCARED OF ME.

The answer to the riddle is a SHARK! Find the shark picture on the Pirates! treasure map. Then, help your child glue the treasure chest on their treasure map. There’s only one more treasure chest to collect, so make sure your pirate is in Quest next weekend so he or she can collect the final treasure chest for their treasure map!

Complete this fun pirate activity with your preschooler to reinforce what they learned in Quest this weekend. Have fun making “Pirate Megaphones!”

PIRATE MEGAPHONES
Grab a piece of paper (white or colored) and crayons. Have your pirate color the piece of paper any way they’d like. When they are done coloring, roll the piece of paper into a cylinder from the long side of the paper. Place a piece of tape on the edge.  Now you have made a pirate megaphone! Have your pirate march around the house shouting “The Bible Says Jesus is Always With Us!” to spread the news to the rest of your family.

Bible Story: Ruth and Naomi :: Ruth 1:11-18
Lesson Overview: It was the final weekend of our Forecast: Chance of Rain series where we have been learning about unity through some of our favorite movies.

This weekend we looked at the story of Ruth and Naomi.  Naomi’s son, Ruth’s husband, had died, and according to tradition, when a woman’s husband died, she would return home to her family to begin a new life.  But instead of letting Naomi return to her home by herself, Ruth was unified with Naomi and went with her even though it meant leaving her home and her friends, even her country! Sometimes unity is really hard.

In the movie Despicable Me we saw a very unusual family who is learned how to be unified, even when it was difficult. Even though it was dangerous, Gru and the kids worked together and saved their family. Sometimes, it might be hard to get along with our brothers, sisters, or parents, but even when having unity with your family is difficult, it’s always worth it!
