Camp Wannastay – Week 5 #Quest

Bible Story: 1 Samuel 17 | David The Hero
Main Point: Leaders obey!
Memory Verse: “Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.” Hebrews 13:7

We are partnering with Newspring Church and using their Camp Wannstay video curriculum. To learn more about KidSpring, visit https://newspring.cc/kidspring.

At Camp Wannastay we are learning how to be leaders in all we say and do! We learned David was a leader because he obeyed his father and took food to his brothers. When we obey, we are leaders, too! When we obey, we set a good example for those around us.

This week, we received a camp postcard from our friend Silver Squirrel. Make sure your child wears SILVER and joins us in Quest this weekend to celebrate Silver Squirrel Day! We can’t wait to see you there!

Camp Canteen
Join us in helping your child learn Hebrews 13:7, our camp memory verse. Children can recite this verse each week during Camp Wannastay to collect a prize from the Camp Canteen.

Remember your leaders (point to head and say “bing”)
who taught you the word of God. (open hands like a book)
Think of all the good (two thumbs up)
that has come from their lives, (spread arms wide)
and follow the example (cup hands around mouth while whispering)
of their faith. (shout and pump fist in the air)

Learning this verse helps us learn how to be better leaders, like those in the Bible stories we read each week. Practice your verse with your camper then ask your child to Remember, Think, and Follow to review what we learned this weekend:

  1. Remember: Who was the leader you learned about at Camp Wannastay? (David)
  2. Think: How did David obey his father? (He took food to his brothers on the battlefield.)
  3. Follow: How can you be a leader like David? (By obeying.)
