Camp Wannastay – Week 6 #Quest

Bible Story: Acts 6:1-7 | Food For Widows
Main Point: Leaders help!
Memory Verse: “Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.” Hebrews 13:7

We are partnering with Newspring Church and using their Camp Wannstay video curriculum. To learn more about KidSpring, visit https://newspring.cc/kidspring.

We celebrated Silver Squirrel Day at Camp Wannastay by learning, Leaders Help!, from the Bible story of Jesus’ friends helping the widows get food. Silver Squirrel was a leader by helping Yellow Yak, and we can be a leader by helping others, too! Jesus wants us to be helpers, just like Him! When we help others, we are setting a good example for others. That makes us leaders!

We also received camp mail from Silver Squirrel:

Camp Canteen
Join us in helping your child learn Hebrews 13:7, our camp memory verse. Children can recite this verse each week during Camp Wannastay to collect a prize from the Camp Canteen.

Remember your leaders (point to head and say “bing”)
who taught you the word of God. (open hands like a book)
Think of all the good (two thumbs up)
that has come from their lives, (spread arms wide)
and follow the example (cup hands around mouth while whispering)
of their faith. (shout and pump fist in the air)

Learning this verse helps us learn how to be better leaders, like those in the Bible stories we read each week. Practice your verse with your camper then ask your child to Remember, Think, and Follow to review what we learned this weekend:

  1. Remember: Who were the leaders you learned about at Camp Wannastay? (Jesus’ friends)
  2. Think: How did Jesus’ friends help the widows? (Found seven helpers to be leaders who could feed the widows.)
  3. Follow: How can you be a leader like Jesus’ friends? (By helping.)
