You are not pointless. ● Psalm 139:23-24
In eKidz Online, we tuned into the Loop Show to learn about God’s purpose for our lives.
As a family, discuss a few questions together after your child watches this week’s episode.
Question #1: What’s one thing you’d like to do this summer?
Question #2: Read Psalm 139:23-24. How easy would it be for you to pray these words as a prayer to God? What do you think could happen if people honestly pray this prayer?
Question #3: What’s something you do that has purpose?
Kid Challenge of the Week
Set a goal for the summer.
This week’s episode was about purpose, so help your child look at the goal as giving themselves a purpose for their summer! Remind them that once they set the goal, they’ll have to take the time every day to do what they’ve got to do to achieve it.
Use this question and the following examples to help your child set a goal: What’s something you really want to do or accomplish this summer? Is it learning how to master a Rubik’s cube, saying a few words in a different language, reading your Bible each night before bed, getting better at playing a sport, or deciding to read three books this summer?
Encourage your child to remember their goal by writing it down and putting it somewhere they’ll see it all the time. When they see it over and over again it will remind them not to miss the opportunity they have this summer to do something special.
I spy God’s Son, Jesus. ● Jesus | The Gospels
This month we’ll teach our preschoolers the incredible truth, I can believe in Jesus. This truth is so powerful, and we want them to believe Jesus is real and know that He loves the no matter what. Jesus is who He said He is, and He wants to be their friend forever. That’s the truth friends. You better believe it.
As a family, watch this week’s video and then discuss a few questions together.
Question #1: Who is God’s Son? (Jesus)
Question #2: What book can you read to learn about Jesus? (the Bible)
Question #3: Who can believe in Jesus? (I can believe in Jesus.)
Family Activity: Look for Jesus
WHAT YOU NEED: a picture New Testament Bible for each child (NOTE: There are many picture Bibles that are great for toddlers and preschoolers. Check out our Pinterest board for some recommendations.)
WHAT YOU DO:
-Before the Activity: Look through the picture Bible that you will use and pick out the four story pictures of Jesus you want the children to find.
WHAT YOU SAY:
– During the Activity: “I have a very special book for us to look at today — the Bible! I really like this kind of Bible, because it has pictures in it. We are going to use the pictures to play a game of ‘I Spy’. I’ll call out a story picture about Jesus. Then, I want you to spy the picture with your little eyes.”
“Our first story picture is Jesus (example: standing in a boat with Peter, catching fish). Show me the picture when you spy it. Yay! You found Jesus (standing in a boat with Peter, catching fish).”
“Let’s do that again! Now, I want you to look for Jesus (example: feeding A LOT of people with just five loaves of bread and two fish). Show me the picture when you spy it. Yay! You found Jesus (feeding A LOT of people with just five loaves of bread and two fish).”
Continue with the other pictures you want the children to find in their picture Bible.
– After the Activity: “God’s Son, Jesus, was born a long time ago. He grew up to do amazing things that only He can do. People wrote down what they saw Jesus do so that we can believe in Jesus, too! Who can believe in Jesus? (pause for your child to respond, “I can believe in Jesus.”).”
This month, we’re teaching toddlers that we can love like Jesus. We love others by being kind with our words and actions. We want toddlers to grow up knowing that when they love like Jesus, they can point others to Him and make a big difference in their life!
