Bible Story: Exploring the Promised Land | Numbers 13:1 – 14:35
Main Point: When I’m Scared, God is with Me!
Memory Verse: “I prayed to the Lord and He answered me. He freed me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4
Lesson Overview
Our FearBuster team has been using God’s Word to BUST our fears and the fears of our monster friends! So far, we’ve busted our fear of the dark, thunderstorms, and bullies.
This weekend, our friend MoMo Monster was afraid of the new camping site his family was visiting. He didn’t know where anything was! But, Agent Lou True was there and helped MoMo Monster by reading a story from the Bible. He read a story about Moses and some men who explored some new land God had for them. In the new land the men found lots of yummy food, but also found some other men who were much bigger than them! That made some of the men very scared, but not two of the men, Caleb and Joshua. Caleb and Joshua told everyone not to be afraid because God was with them! No one listened to Caleb and Joshua, but God blessed them and allowed them to go into the new promised land! After reading the Bible story, MoMo Monster learned God is with us even when we are scared!
FearBusted Box
To help our FearBuster friends bust their fears, Quest children received a FearBusted Box to collect truths from God’s word to know what to do when they are scared. Each weekend children will collect another truth to put in their FearBusted Box!
In this week’s truth bag was a stretchy man! There were twelve men who explored the new land, but only two weren’t scared because they knew God was with them! Use the truth card to start a discussion with your child about their fears and to review the Bible story and main point.
Ask, “When you’re scared, who is with you?”
Memory Verse
Our memory verse during FearBusters teaches us that God can free us from all our fears.
I prayed (pretend to pray)
to the Lord (point up),
and He answered me. (cup hand to ear)
He freed me (wave arms and smile)
from all my fears. (make scared face)
Psalm 34:4 (hold up 4 fingers)
Spend some time during dinner or bedtime to review the verse with you child this week! Each weekend children can recite the memory verse for a ROAR-some monster prize in Quest.
