Series Memory Verse: Psalm 56:3-4a, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise – in God I trust and am not afraid.”
Bible Story: Noah and the Ark, Genesis 6-9
Main Point: I have the courage to change!
In our movie this week, we watched the Croods, a family of cavemen, overcome their fear of change and the unknown in order to survive cataclysmic events. We talked in our eGroups about how many times, we fear change as well. New schools, new friends, and other new environments or scenarios can be scary.
We turned to the Bible to help us see how to handle this fear and looked at the story of Noah. Much like the Croods, Noah and his family faced a cataclysmic event – a worldwide flood. Their entire world changed and was never the same. Rather than giving into fear, however, Noah trusted God, obeyed him, and as a result, he and his family were saved.
When we face change, whether it’s big or small, our best approach is to be like Noah. We need to put our faith in God, listen carefully to what he tells us to do, and obey what he says. And when we do, we invite God into our situation with us and his presence will get us through anything we face.
