Series Memory Verse: Psalm 56:3-4a, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise – in God I trust and am not afraid.”
Bible Story: Joshua and Caleb, Numbers 13
Main Point: I have the courage to try!
This week, we watched as Sherman had to have the courage to try something he’d never done before in the movie “Mr. Peabody and Sherman.” A lot of times, it’s scary to try new things because we’re afraid we’ll fail, or look silly, or not enjoy it.
As we talked about that fear, we turned to the Bible to see two men who had the courage to try something scary. In Numbers 13, we read about the spies Moses sent into the Promised Land to scope it out. When they came back, most of the spies brought back a bad report and were too scared to go into the Promised Land. Two spies however, Joshua and Caleb, came back and gave a good report. They had the courage to try to go into the Promised Land. The reason they had this courage was because they knew God would be with them. For them, that was enough.
When we face things we’ve never done before, we can have the courage to try because we know God goes with us.
