Main Point: I have the courage to stand out!

This week we started a brand new series called Hollywood Highlight Reel 2! During this series, we’ll be watching clips from popular movies, identifying themes from them, and digging into the Bible to see how God would have us live. Throughout the series, we’ll be looking for Reel Courage – facing your fear and doing what’s right.

Our first movie was The Lego Movie! In it, we saw how Emmett was afraid to stand out from the rest of Lego City but eventually, found the courage to. We talked about how sometimes it’s difficult for us to be willing to stand out from the crowd in order to stand for what’s right, so we turned to the Bible and the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These three guys were so committed to doing what’s right, not only did they stand out from the crowd, they faced a fiery furnace for doing it.

As a family this week, watch The Lego Movie, read Daniel 3, and talk about opportunities your child can have to stand up for what’s right. Share challenges we face as adults to stand up for what’s right as well. Pray for God’s strength and reel courage to face your fears and do what’s right.
