Real heart change starts with repentance. ● Ephesians 4:21-23 NLT
As a family, discuss a few questions together after your child watches this week’s episode.
Question #1: Read Ephesians 4:21-24, NLT. What do you think it means to let the Holy Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes?
Question #2: What do you think the Holy Spirit could renew about your thoughts and attitudes?
Question #3: What do you think keeps you (or others) from coming home to God for forgiveness when you’ve messed up?
Question #4: What does repentance mean? (To ask God for forgiveness for disobeying Him and changing your behavior to obey Him. It’s a change in direction — turning away from what we know to be wrong and turning towards God. It’s like doing a 180 on a skateboard — you turn and go in the opposite direction.)
When we repent, we refresh and renew our hearts. When we confess our sins, we let go of the burden of shame and “let the Spirit renew our thoughts and attitudes.”
Is there a sinful choice you’ve made that you feel ashamed of or are trying to hide? This week, talk to God about it. Ask Him to forgive you and give you a fresh start.
