Motion :: Week of January 4

When we face choices we don’t feel prepared to make, God’s wisdom is already available to us. He will always help us make right choices when we slow down, ask for His help, and seek out the wisdom He’s given us in His Word.

This week, we tuned into the Loop Show and took a look at Proverbs 4:23, to learn about how God gives us wisdom by speaking to us through His Word, the Bible.

Your heart — who you really are inside and what you value — determines the way you think, speak, and act. That means you need to protect your heart carefully. You need to be careful about what goes into it if you only want good things to come out.

We need a good filter that allows the right things to fill our hearts while keeping bad things out. God’s Word is the best filter for our hearts. When we spend time in our Bible, God speaks to us. He helps us understand good things that will strengthen and encourage us, and He helps us understand what we should avoid.

At bedtime this week, read Proverbs 4:23 and pray together. Ask God to help your child guard their heart, filtering out every influence that isn’t coming from Him. Pray they’ll learn to hear and follow God’s voice above all others.
