HONESTY: Choosing to be truthful in whatever you say and do.
Series Memory Verse: “The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in men who are truthful.” Proverbs 12:22
Main Point: Lies trap you; truth sets you free.
Bible Story: Sapphira and Ananias Lie to Peter | Acts 5:1-11
Honesty isn’t always easy. Sometimes it feels like things might turn out better if we “bend” the truth a little bit. But what might start out feeling like a little lie can quickly become a web of deceit that we can’t untangle ourselves from. When we choose truth, however, we can find the strength, peace, and freedom God wants us to enjoy.
Last week we were introduced to Maya, a teenage girl who’s got herself into a dishonest situation. Maya’s facing a difficult decision as she has to decide if she’s going to help Ripley, a dishonest kid who’s trying to cheat on an upcoming test. Will Maya be able to show honesty, or will she follow Ripley and help him steal test answers at school? Find out in this week’s episode of Up In The Air!

This weekend we looked at God’s Word about someone whose lies caused them to lose their own lives.
Ananais and his wife chose to sell their land, but instead of just admitting they wanted to keep some money for themselves, they lied and pretended they were giving it all to God. Their lie had a very serious consequence. We may not die the next time we tell a lie, but every lie traps you in some way; only truth can set you free.
The Bring It! Challenge
We want kids to Bring It! to church. The Bring It! Challenge encourages Motion kids to bring themselves, their Bible, and scripture they’ve learned to Motion. During Up In The Air, kids have a chance to win your their own drone, just like Maya’s in Up In The Air! For each part of the Bring It! Challenge completed, they will earn a ticket. The more tickets kids earn, the better chance they have of winning! Kids have a chance to win the grand prize — a REAL drone — or the runner-up prize — a GIANT piece of candy.
Kids can earn a ticket each time for finding Proverbs 12:22 in their own personal Bible, reciting it from memory, and saying what our series virtue, honesty, means!
