Quest :: I can thank God for good things.

Main Point: I can thank God for good things.
Bible Story: Every Good and Perfect Gift ● James 1:17, Genesis 1

As a family, watch this week’s video and then discuss a few questions together.

Question #1: “Who was today’s Bible story about?” (God)

Question #2: “What does today’s Bible story teach us?” (We can thank God for good things.)

Question #3: “How do we know that God gives us good things?” (God made the earth and everything in it. Everywhere we look, we can see all the good gifts that God made because He is good.)

Family Activity: Good Things

WHAT YOU NEED:
“Thankful Tree” activity page, “Good Things” activity page, crayons or markers, scissors, glue stick

WHAT YOU DO:

  • Before the Activity: Print off both activity pages. Cut out the pictures on the “Good Things” activity page.
  • During the Activity: Give your child the “Thankful Tree” activity page.

WHAT YOU SAY:

  • During the Activity: “Our Bible story was about how God made a really big world with lots and LOTS of good things in it. Good things like… (Point to one of the cut outs from the “Good Things” activity page and wait for your child to say what it is). And good things like… (Point to another cut out from the “Good Things” activity page and wait for your child to say what it is. Continue with several of the pictures.) God gave us all of these good things, because God is good. One way we can remember God is good is by making a thankful tree. Pick a good thing picture and glue it to your thankful tree. When you put it on the tree, say, ‘Thank You, God, for the [thing’s name]. You are so good!”
  • After the Activity: “Look at your thankful tree! It looks so GOOD! Let’s hang it up where you can see it every day, so you can remember to thank God for the good things He’s given you!”
