WHAT YOU NEED: Bible (Use a children’s Bible if you have one or use this Bible story card.) 

WHAT YOU SAY: “I love reading the Bible and spending time with Jesus. Let’s read our Bible story together right now!”

WHAT YOU DO: Read “Jonah” — Jonah 1:1-3:10 from the Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)

 

TODDLER ACTIVITIES
Complete the following activities below with your toddler to help them learn that we can go God’s way.

May 2:

Game Activity: Follow the Leader

WHAT YOU DO: 

  • Say, “Today we’re going to play a game called ‘Follow the Leader!’ I’ll be the leader, and I will give you instructions on where to go. I want you to follow me and go the right way. Are you ready?”
  • Lead your toddler in moving around your room using the list of actions below.
    • “Let’s walk around the room. Follow me!”
    • “Let’s hop around the room. Follow me!” 
    • “Let’s tip-toe around the room. Follow me!” 
    • “Let’s march around the room. Follow me!” 
    • “Let’s twirl around the room. Follow me!” 
    • “Let’s walk very slowly around the room. Follow me!”
    • “Let’s crawl around the room. Follow me!”
  • After the activity say, “Wow, you did a great job following the leader! God is the BEST leader. God’s way is always the right way, and He wants us to follow Him! Who can go God’s way?” Encourage your toddler to say, “I can go God’s way!”

 

April 11:

Memory Verse Activity: Memory Freeze

WHAT YOU NEED: Safari Worship Playlist 

WHAT YOU DO:

  • Say, “Our memory verse helps us remember helps us remember that God will teach us His way. God’s way is best, and He wants us to follow Him!”
  • Lead your toddler in saying Psalm 27:11a three times. Say the verse, line by line, encouraging your toddler to repeat and complete the actions after you. 

“Teach me (point to self)
Your way (walk in place)
O Lord!” (point up with pointer fingers)
Psalm 27:11a (open hands like a book)

  • Then have a dance party to help your toddler remember the memory verse.
  • After about 30 seconds, pause the music and encourage your toddler to stand very still or FREEZE.
  • Lead them in saying the memory verse with the actions. Then turn the music on again and repeat the activity every 30 seconds.

 

May 16:

Song Activity: I Can Go God’s Way

WHAT YOU DO: 

  • Lead your toddler in singing the following to the tune of “Mary Had a Little Lamb.”
    I can go God’s way,
    God’s way, God’s way.
    I can go God’s way, 
    because He knows what’s best.
  • Continue the activity for as long as your toddler is interested.
  • After the activity, say, “Wonderful job singing! Who can go God’s way?” Encourage your toddler to say, “I can go God’s way!”

 

May 23:

Game Activity: God’s Way

WHAT YOU DO: 

  • Say, “We can learn how to go God’s way when we read His Word, the Bible! Let’s see what God’s Word says so we can know how to go His way. Are you ready?”
  • Read the list of actions below and encourage your toddler to respond.
    • “The Bible tells us that God wants us to follow Him and obey His Word. March in place if you can go God’s way and obey Him!” 
    • The Bible tells us to obey our parents. Give me a hug if you can go Gods’ way and obey me or [name other parent]!”
    • The Bible tells us to be thankful for what God gives us. Clap your hands if you can go God’s way and be thankful!”
    • The Bible tells us to be kind to everyone. Give me two thumbs-up if you can go God’s way and be kind!”
    • The Bible tells us to be brave because God is always with us. Show me your best brave face if you can go God’s way even when you’re afraid!”
  • After the activity, say, “God’s way is best, and we should follow Him! Who can go God’s way?” Encourage your toddler to say, “I can go God’s way!”

 

May 30:

Song Activity: Yes I Can!

WHAT YOU DO: 

  • Lead your toddler in singing the following to the tune of “If You’re Happy And You Know It.”
    I can go God’s way, yes I can! (clap, clap)
    I can go God’s way, yes I can! (clap, clap)
    When I want to know God’s way,

    I’ll see what the Bible has to say.
    I can go God’s way, yes I can! (clap, clap)

    I can go God’s way, yes I can! (stomp, stomp)
    I can go God’s way, yes I can! (stomp, stomp)
    When I want to know God’s way,

    I’ll see what the Bible has to say.
    I can go God’s way, yes I can! (stomp, stomp)

    I can go God’s way, yes I can! (Say, “Hooray!”)
    I can go God’s way, yes I can! (Say, “Hooray!”)
    When I want to know God’s way,

    I’ll see what the Bible has to say.
    I can go God’s way, yes I can! (Say, “Hooray!”)

    You can also put all three together for a fourth verse. (clap,clap; stomp, stomp; “Hooray!”)

  • After the activity, say, “Great job singing! Who can go God’s way?” Encourage your toddler to say, “I can go God’s way!”
