Bible Story: Battle of Jericho  Joshua 5:13-6:27

Bible Story Activity

WHAT YOU NEED: Bible (Use a children’s Bible if you have one or use this Bible story card.) 

WHAT YOU SAY: “I love reading the Bible and spending time with Jesus. Let’s read our Bible story together right now!”

WHAT YOU DO: Read “Battle of Jericho” — Joshua 5:13-6:27.  (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)

 

TODDLER ACTIVITIES
Complete the following activities below with your toddler to help them learn that we can trust God.

June 6:

Song Activity: Every Day

WHAT YOU DO: 

-Lead your toddler in singing the following to the tune of “Mary Had a Little Lamb.”

           I can trust God every day,
           every day, every day.
           I can trust God every day.
          He’s always there for me.

-After the activity, say, “Great job singing! Who can trust God?” Encourage your toddler to say, “I can trust God!”

 

June 13:

Memory Verse Activity: Memory Freeze

WHAT YOU NEED: Safari Worship Playlist 

WHAT YOU DO:

-Say, “Our memory verse helps us remember helps us remember that we can trust God!”

-Lead your toddler in saying Psalm 25:2a three times. Say the verse, line by line, encouraging your toddler to repeat and complete the actions after you. 

“I trust (point to self)
in you, (point up with one hand)
my God!” (point up with both hands)
Psalm 25:2a (open hands like a book)

-Then have a dance party to help your toddler remember the memory verse.
-After about 30 seconds, pause the music and encourage your toddler to stand very still or FREEZE.
-Lead them in saying the memory verse with the actions. Then turn the music on again and repeat the activity every 30 seconds.

 

June 20:

Game Activity: Trust Parade

WHAT YOU DO: 

-Say, “In today’s Bible story, Joshua and his army trusted God’s plan and marched around the wall for seven days. On the seventh day, the walls came down! We’re going to go on a parade and march around the room, just like Joshua and his army, to help us remember that we can trust God!”
-Lead your toddler in a parade around the room while chanting, “I can trust God!”
-Switch it up and encourage them to do the following:

    -Hop

   -Crawl

   -Twirl

   -Walk fast

   -Walk slow

   -Take big steps

   -Take little steps

-Occasionally stop to ask your toddler, “Who can trust God?” and encourage them to say, “I can trust God!”
-After the activity, say, “Great job! We can trust God no matter what! He will be with us and can always help us. Who can trust God?” Encourage your toddler to say, “I can trust God!”

 

June 27:

Song Activity: Yes I Can!

WHAT YOU DO:
-Lead your toddler in singing the following to the tune of “If You’re Happy And You Know It.”

   I can trust God, yes I can! (clap, clap)
   I can trust God, yes I can! (clap, clap)
   No matter what comes my way,
   I can trust Him every day.
   I can trust God, yes I can! (clap, clap)

   I can trust God, yes I can! (stomp, stomp)
   I can trust God, yes I can! (stomp, stomp)
   No matter what comes my way,
   I can trust Him every day.
   I can trust God, yes I can! (stomp, stomp)

   I can trust God, yes I can! (Say, “Hooray!”)
   I can trust God, yes I can!(Say, “Hooray!”)
   No matter what comes my way,
   I can trust Him every day.
   I can trust God, yes I can! (Say, “Hooray!”)

   You can also put all three together for a fourth verse. (clap, clap; stomp, stomp; “Hooray!”)

-After the activity, say, “Great job singing! Who can trust God?” Encourage your toddler to say, “I can trust God!”
